Pegu Club, The Campbell Apartment, Milk and Honey...  you guys have a serious competitor over here. And you, truly drinkers that appreciate creativity and quality, I can't say other than GoldBar worth to be in your list. I would never though that customize as a nightclub, Goldbar could be hiding some of the best drinks in the city. Are secret doors overused and this is the new way to keep it in secret?? Unexpectedly good, as has been perfectly described for my partner in crime Sarah W ... (3x) surprise For aged liquors-based drinks I should definitely go to Raines Law Room. For your girly days I should choose however Pegu Club where ingredients as egg white, fresh or dry fruits, flowers and ice's shape are used to play with flavor and textures; Goldbar belongs to Pegu's type but without the ornaments. Not orchids here, not treats to eat, but same creativity. Said this, don't get me wrong, drinks are pretty strong. The bartenders, well the mixologist, really enjoy what they are doing. Remi was who attended us. Nice, funny and once he saw we really liked his work he made some suggestions, confess us that he and his mate Tim arranged the drinks menu and ended up inviting us to the 3rd cocktail round (yes 3rd) since he was amused with our compliments; it looked to me like if most of the people doesn't appreciate the "Chef" work and they just order regular drinks since cocktails doesn't look to be the main attraction at Goldbar yet. All the cocktails that we got was a little sweet and complex in flavor. Our rounds included Highland Nectar, R.P.G., Gold Rush, Lavender kiss, Paradiso and Kaffir skye. I will repeat every single one.. I liked all of them; but R.P.G is the one that I most liked in terms of flavor... there was natural lemon there but is was also sweet. It reminds me Oda To Ankara, one of my favorites cocktails invented by Kenta (Pegu Club) and that you can also get at Flatiron Lounge. Highland nectar is the one that surprise me with the texture. It was so good that we didn't drink it we just devour it. I just read that Honey is the cocktail's main ingredient. So Remi, Honey was your secret hum? Goldbar has another face other than a lounge; its also a Dance club. Its said that there is an very strict door policy. We didn't suffer it at all and actually it was one of the easiest places where we could get in. We all know being girls properly dress always help. I really hope for you who choose this destination be as easy as it was for us. We maybe were just lucky that Saturday night. Any case, the other face at Goldbar was unexpectedly good as well. Grandiosity; luxury ambiance with golden chains as curtains, round short tables with a golden ring in the top engraved with words, sofas even at the bar, yes forget stools, and gold skulls embedded in the walls. Extravagant paints cover the walls as well, portraits of people with curious attitude and ornaments, looking at you and thinking probably the same about you. About the crowd, again I didn't detect any selection as you can notice at The Gates for example. Everybody was nice, not my crowd type tho, pretty far away of what I consider attractive.  I could notice however certain guys and old-man bringing his new? young girl/girls. Well : / ...... at least nobody will push you and you will get involve in that game only if you wanna play. The DJ was very good too. Hip Hop and R&B hits, well mixed. There was enough space to dance but it wasn't empty and it got packed after 2 am. I'm not ready to match an speakeasy type of drinks with a nightclub in the same space at the same time. I wish I had this menu in places as Pegu or Angel's Share because what I really want is to enjoy this drinks in that kind of ambiance. For the future I'll try to get in earlier and check out the lounge ambiance, if there is any, which was our first intention earlier that night until the nice bouncer told us there was a private party. Remi, get ready because I'll see you soon

HAHAHAHAHA.. my last k-club was about 10 years ago, so we were so excited to go the other night.  Our waiter, Romeo was very nice, he toss in a crown royal as a complementary since we open 3 bottles of drinks (2 crown and one grey goose), the bill came out to be close to $700.  But the crowd has changed a lot since then.  It's not exactly a younger crowd.. more mix but people don't dress as nice compare with before.  You see people wearing baseball caps, t-shirt and jeans. They still do booking (of course) but we usually just turn our head right back and don't even bother to sit down if the guys in the table are bunch of godzillas.. I know I'm mean but since I don't drink.. I need at least cuter looking guys in the table for me to sit down...afterall, the bill wasn't cheap at all, I'll only do booking with cute guys for exchange.  Overall, we had fun..but not as much fun compare w/ before.. maybe that's a sign that I'm getting old.  =P
