ok. so let me start off by saying the first time i came across this place was because of Shecky's reviewing its grand opening. ok. super. so one random night i go with boyfriend, girl friend and guy friend. everything is all grt. wow. nice layout. wow. grt music. wow. and its all free?! my friend makes mental note to celebrate her bday here in dec. (it mustve been oct at the time). flash foward to dec. we all meet up. excited we go up elevators. and then it happens. bouncer comes up to boyfriend and says "you cant come in with your shirt". hmm. ok. sneakers are not the problem...jeans are not the problem...but its the shirt. what sort of shirt u may ask. a plain ol' gray thermal. simple. not raggedy. not torn or with explicit phrases. you see. they have an issue with no collars. but wait. a guy just walked in with the SAME SHIRT but in black. but its cool. cause when the shirt is in blk and when you stand at a certain angle this holographic collar appears.   :0 l     long story short. we sneak him in by taking girl friend's boyfriend's sweater. just to see the place is dead. D-E-A-D. from 11pm-2am. dead. so why the exclusivity for that b.s.?  *sigh* so yea. this place now sucks. guess it was just the hype of its opening days...(why did we insist on going in, you may ask? it was my girl's bday!)

there's a circus disco here in hollywood, but they have a circus NIGHT here and they freakin mean it with clowns and shit, but i don't know why; nobody cares. the venue is pretty neat because there's 3 levels with live band downstairs hip hop in the middle and the trance auditorium up top where i saw deadmau5. i actually didnt find out about the top floor for awhile. i thought thought the middle floor was it and that they were warming people up for deadmau5 with some crappy hip hop, haha. the crowd was different than i thought because in la almost all trance events are like half asian. i would say don't smoke inside, but the bouncer seemed to kick only me out for doing it..i think it was bc i'm asian, lol.

Imagine being a visitor in New York...and your friend takes you to K-Town to hit up a lounge. You get to a corner...first floor you see a sunglasses store. You're thinking...why the hell are we here? Then you get into a REALLY SMALL elevator up to the Third Floor. Okay...are going to someone's apartment? Condo? What's going on.... Elevator door opens and here you are...in Third Floor Cafe Bar and Restaurant. First thought was...NICE! Ambiance was great...exactly the kind of lounge I love to kick it at. Nice tables and comfy chairs to sit on...just a relaxed night out for a few drinks with your friends. 5 stars so far... Drinks were definitely on the expensive side. $14 Jaeger Bomb, $12 shot of Patron, $10 shot of Grey Goose, $7 Blue Moon, $10 Lychee Martini....etc. I don't mind paying more for alcohol...but these were not big shots at all. Came in pretty small shot glasses...and tasted pretty weak as well. I had about 5 drinks here and was not buzzin off anything. But they did give us a round of Grey Goose on the house in the end...which is nice since we spent so much here. I'm not sure if it's just because it's New York...but the bartender here didn't know how to make a lot of the drinks I'm use to having in the West coast. Maybe it's because it's more of a classy lounge...so they don't make crazy drinks like LC. I love going to places like this...but probably wouldn't come to this exact one again. And they were playing the Notting HIll soundtrack...which is a good soundtrack...don't get me wrong! But...not the right time for it. When that was over, it turned into Korean trance stuff. It's cool though...the people there were pretty nice to us. There's just a time and place for everything...and this is not somewhere you would want to get shit faced at. Pretty classy lookin...okay for me.
