by Ric T. on Walked up to Tenjune on a Friday night after having drinks at the Standard Hotel.. At which point I encounter "Leroy, the door guy here, hustled 40 bucks off my friend and I, even though we were both with two very pretty girls this guy wouldn't have been able to pick up if he was the owner of this place himself. You will know him when you seem him; he looks like a Miami cab driver mated with the bass player from the Black Eyed peas. Well we get through the velvet rope and walked down the steps into Tenjune. Characters outside of the place were almost worth the price in admission, half the people trying to get in would probably have a hard time paying the rent let alone going into a club. Located right next door to STK and across the street from Buddha Bar this place consistently attracts a crowd.. Definitely not as good as it use to be...meaning... all the super hot model types, there sugar daddies who buy the tables and the bridge and tunnel I'm from NJ but think I am part of the "in" crowd no longer go here. Place has been around a while.... Definitely would recommend it to groups of guys going on a seek and destroy mission in the meatpacking. Simply for the fact that you will get in even though they will bang you for a bottle or two (typical)... Also its not a bad place to bring a girl who comes in from out of town and you have a wife/gf and are afraid of getting pinched.. Perfect place to bring and Impress your side piece.. Bartenders... One was hot ... the other not... Drinks fairly strong, however a round of four drinks will run you about 80 bucks, definitely on the higher end and u may regret not having just bought a bottle. That way u end up with a table and your not paying Leroy's toll at the front door. Place has some weird lights outside leading to the bathroom or maybe it was just the 6 drinks I had in my stomach at this point.. The dance floor was horribly dark.. Yet another perk if u don't want to be seen, than again with Kerpal the cab driver dancing next to me and bertha from Iowa doing the two step maybe i was glad I couldn't see half of what was going on.. Stayed here for less than a hour.. Had to leave... Music wasn't bad.. Pretty good hip-hop actually.. However, the crowd was akin to being in time square on New Years Eve. Wouldn't come back here unless I was with friends who refused to go elsewhere or it was someones birthday party at which point I'd recommend they change venues before hand.
by Deon Tedrick on Maybe I went on an off nite (Fri June 30th) but I HATED Turntables on the Hudson at the Frying Pan... SO much cheese (and young cheese at that, but thank you for offering us some puff the magic dragon! Was it that obvious that we needed it??) My one friend liked the boat cuz of all the different rooms, but my other friend and I have sensitive noses I guess, cuz all we could smell was the rusty toilets in the bathroom which killed our buzz pronto (oh, no! we are NOT having any of that THANK YOU VERY MUCH). On top of that, there wasn't much else going on in that area so we had to cab it back to where we should have just gone to originally, Cielo...
