by Natasha C. on I love to love this place. Ladies, if you ever need to plan a bachelorette party or just a fun evening out, you got your place to be. Noah and or his partner will treat you right and you will have a fantastic time! The dinner is tasty with the selection that they offer, the drinks, whoa-giddyup, and the entertainers, they make you sweat with their hotness. The dance floor downstairs must be hit up, the drinks are great, the music is good (you can request songs from the gracious djs) and it's usually a safe bet that there's no slimey creeps down there. It's great fun and the place is awesome! When you do go though, you must look for safe parking, otherwise, cab it up!
by Lawana Haymaker on It was a place I pass often and was looking forward to sampling, but SCK did not live up to my expectations. We arrived after 9pm on a Thursday evening and were seated promptly in the main dining area. Our server was prompt, polite and a friendly guy, so this review really reflects the food- not the service. As I may have mentioned in another review, I'm a sucker for chicken livers. My plan for this evening was to mix it up- the chicken liver appetizer, soup and a side veggie. My man ordered the shrimp and scallops with grits. The She crab soup arrived first. I was looking forward to a nice warm soup on this chilly evening and found gloppy gravy instead. A thick soup is great if its thick because of the number of ingredient, but this was just plain thick. It was so heavy we had a few spoons and put it aside. I had a feeling that I would remember this soup for all the wrong reasons later. (Yep, confirmed.) Entrees arrived quickly after. My chicken livers were supposed to be lightly pan fried, giving me the hope that there would be a little crispiness, but that was not the case. These were dense and overly sauced. I believe they were "pan fried" hours ago, losing any sense of "crisp". After a few bites I gave up- another disappointment. My man's entree looked good, but very small. For $18.50, there was little more than a handful of grits, 2 scallops and three shrimp. Sheesh. The grits were very course and tasted strongly of the shrimp- a little too much of the wrong flavor for our tastes. Since we both had plenty of room left, we opted for the carrot cupcake for dessert. Strike three. The cake was so stale that the "drunken" component did not even help to add moistness. The pecans were burnt, not toasted, making the pomegranate seeds (albeit a very odd ingredient) the highlight of this strange and tasteless dish. The meal was only slightly saved by the yummy wine our waiter suggested as my first choice was unavailable. Thank God for that glass, otherwise the evening would have been a total loss. The best part of the evening? It made my guy appreciate my cooking at home even more. Gee thanks! At least I didn't have to do the dishes here.
by Kelley Ohare on I would have given this place 3-4 stars if it were not for the people who work here. My friend and I came on a Friday night to meet up with some friends. We got into the front doors, no problem. However, upon entering, there was a line divided by gender to have our bags and persons checked for any concealed weapons and such. The whole ordeal was chaotic as some people believed they did not need to be checked and tried to get through. While the bouncers went to "take care" of those people, the ones standing in line had to wait while we watched belligerent clubgoers explaining how they're VIP and all that jazz and didn't need to wait in line. The whole ordeal was a little ridiculous, but tolerable. After all, better safe than sorry, huh? When we finally got into the club, I noticed the very blue hue to the club and various beds all along the walls of the club. I must admit I was pretty impressed by the layout, dance floor, furniture. Also, the beds are really comfortable! I lay in one for a bit just to de-compress from the busy day I had and almost fell asleep. The unisex bathroom caught me off-guard and I was a little confused as to where I was supposed to go. I thought I has accidentally stumbled into the men's room because I saw a guy coming out of one of the stalls. Luckily, a bevy of girls came rushing in to use the mirrored wall to reapply their makeup and I felt at ease once again knowing I didn't make some huge mistake. The fountain sink is pretty cool. We ran into a little problem with the bouncers here. As we exited through the back door to get some fresh air, we made sure to ask if we could get back in through the same way instead of having to go back on the line. We were assured yes. However, due to some drunken idiot causing a ruckus, no one was allowed back in through the side door. So, yet again, we had to wait back on the weapons check line and go through the same thing all over again, irregardless of the stamps on our hands showing we were already inside. The music itself was pretty good. They had a live DJ and my friend and I kept saying "I loooveee this song" throughout the whole time we were there. So thumbs up for that. The crowd was mixed, which I liked, since I've only gone to Asian clubs for the most part. It was cool to meet new people. Overall, the place itself isn't bad. It's actually pretty cool and the concept is interesting. However, my personal experience there led me to give this place 2 stars. In reality, I'd give it 2.5 stars, but there is no such option on rateclubs. Maybe next time I will be more prepared for the ridiculous door policy at Duvet.
