I made it out to Alhambra to celebrate a friend's birthday here the other night. I am currently borderline giving this place 2 stars, but I really enjoyed the fact that they played a good variety of dance music (including 80's disco, freestyle, merengue, and cumbias). Otherwise, it reminded me a little too much of the Saddle Ranch at Universal City Walk - dirty, skanky, and straight ghetto.  I saw way more thongs than necessary and was appalled at the people grinding to non-grinding music like cumbias. Drinks here are not necessarily cheap either. And if you arrive after 10:30 cover is ten bucks. Although, parking is free in the lot behind it. Just expect to have your car completely covered in flyers by the time you're ready to go...

So Opera & Crimson. What can I say about you. I will say that my experience may greatly differ from the many of you who go here on standard club nights. I was here for a Christmas party that was bought out for the entire night with catering and free drinks sooooo.... I will talk a little about that mostly about service and ambiance. A major marketing firm my friend works for bought the place out, and set it up with amazing catering and free drinks all night. DJ, gogo's the whole 9 so that part was amazing and especially because everything is free but more so because you get to mingle with so many creative types and not deal with the typical clowns that you become used to in the hollywood elite scene. So moving on, the modern decor of this place is stunning. I spent most of my night walking around in awe of the furniture, walls, lighting and architecture. You will know what I am talking about if you check this place out. You cant beat the attention to detail. Id like my house to look like this place. The service. Everyone except one guy was great. They werent serving rockstar or redbull that night but this one guy was awesome and he hooked us up everytime and made our drinks so insanely strong that we had to keep going back to him and tipping him well. He always had a smile and was the way you need to be in the service industry. Now, the Jekyll of our Mr Hyde was the guy he was bartending next to. This guy asked what we wanted. We wanted the same drink his associate gave us and explained how he was taking care of us and of course, this guy shut us down every turn even being super polite. Ok, maybe he was under strict rule so we let him slide, tipped him. Well, we stopped going to him anyway because the other guy was hooking it up and new how to make customers happy. End of the night, our guy is gone and the only guy there is him. BUMMER. He wouldnt make us any shots because he said he wanted to shut down. Ok, no sweat bud, can we at least have waters to sober up our friends? He stared at me with the glare like "are you f&*%^& kidding me" and I looked back and said "water... you guys do have that right".... he slammed the glass down and started pouring super pissed off. Then I proceeded to laugh as so many people needed water and he continuously slammed glasses like a total A$$hole. I let him know he was a jerk by basically saying outloud that "I guess this place is having a water shortage because of the economy. Wow, the commodity of water, its more scarce here then in Uganda" and people proceeded to joke along with me to make this guy realize. Its just water dude, dont be a dick. I know most people dont tip on water but seriously. You want return customers bro, then you go above and beyond. Its called the service industry, get into jerk. Thats all i have to say, the place is very nice, the service was great, that dude was a doucher. Typical when you go to Hollywood. You always find at least ONE.

Yikes...I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown.  Gross 20 year olds with no manners or personality from all around the greater NYC area pulsating to terrible music was not a good way to spend 15 minutes of my Saturday night. Please avoid this area even if you decide to make the best of a night when you can't get into Pink or Kane. There has to be a bar nearby somewhere... BTW- I think Gabriel R's description is right on about the Blade scene...
