This place might have gotten 4 stars if not for an extremely rude and over-righteous run-in with an employee at 1:45am.  I was having a great time at Drai, it was a good Saturday night crowd with attractive people, the place was not overcrowded and I was lucky enough to bypass the line and all of the struggle outside. Unfortunately, at 140am I was greeted by Brett at Drai.  He told me I needed to finish my drink asap according to Los Angeles law.  I completely understood and since I still needed to drink the majority of my drink (which was $20 after tip) I told him listen I know I have til 2am by law, can I give you this glass then?  He stated, "No, I cannot, I need to collect all glasses by then and you need to give it to me within the next ten seconds, you can finish your drink quickly."  I then offered to walk with him (inconveniently since he interrupted a discussion) and he said no that is not possible I need your glass now."  I even stated, "I am not only a hotel guest, but I was also granted entrance by the hotel Director of Guest services to help make-up for some mishaps today, please don't reverse his efforts"  He said 'I know the director Josh well, go ahead and tell him I demanded your drink now even though you offered to walk with me .'" I am shocked at the attitude and ignorance of the staff here.  I am a frequent visitor of the W Hong Kong and Starwood hotels but I never would have encountered this horrible service." While I understand Starwood is an independent entity from Drai, I cannot believe the behavior and attitude that is given especially when Brett acknowledged that he is familiar with the managing staff at the hotel. My friend talked to Eddie at 150am who tried to make amends but it was too late since we had already given our drinks to Brett due to his allegations and bad attitude. Again, like I said, this could have been a fun memorable night and I would have recommended the place.  Instead, I left extremely annoyed due to a staff member and would not go out of my way to go back, spend hundreds of dollars on drinks and be treated in this way.

There is a SCAM going on here.  I told myself not to be one of those people that trashes restaurants because they didn't jump the minute I said jump but this place is a HOT MESS!!!!!! First, I reserved a table for 10 for Girl's Nite Out.  Any restaurant with Margarita in the name can't be that bad.  Boy, was I wrong!!  They insisted I put a $100 deposit on the table for the 7pm reservation.  No problem.  They charged it to my credit card . Then, the night of the party I show up and the host lets me know I am the first to show up and I can wait at the bar while the others are making their way there. So far so good. 20 minutes later there are 3 out of 10 at the bar drinking and chatting away.  The host came over to ask us if we would like to sit at the table and wait.  "SURE!!" the bar was getting packed anyway. This is where it gets ugly... The night manager, Alex (remember this name) stops us on the way to the table and tells us (in a condescending tone.) 1.  We can't sit until the other 7 show up. (I told him they are finding a place to park and will be in shortly.) 2.  We lost our reservation because they only hold the reservation for 15 minutes. (No one mentioned this before) Needless to say my guest and I lost our minds. This continues for 3 minutes until I mentioned to him the $100 deposit.  (He must have forgot that was the restaurants policy for groups 10 or more when he was insisting he told us about the 15 minutes hold on the reservation policy)  BTW, the tables were empty. After I asked for the money back we were seated.  Here is the SCAM. 10 guest; $256.00 bill; one $25.00 gift certificate; and a 18% tip They hand us the bill and no $100.00 deduction was made. We mention it and they are running around trying to find Alex and ask him what to do. At the end of the night I finally got the $100.00 back on my card, and Alex was still mouthing off to us.
