by Joanne G. on I thought that Sugar Cafe would be the perfect spot for dessert and drinks to celebrate the eve of my birthday. Apparently I was wrong! We stayed ten minutes. Their website states they serve bar bites and a full menu of "decadent desserts"? Where? How? Nowhere does it mention that these aren't offered at night. Is there a drink menu? We weren't offered one. The place was EMPTY. Seriously, it was completely dead at 11PM on a Saturday night. After pretending not to notice me at the bar, it took a good ten minutes for one of the bartenders to stroll over and take my order. And no, she wasn't busy because there was no one else around. Oh, I'm sorry, was I bothering you? She was not nice. Sugar, you call yourself a lounge, which would lead one to think that your space would be warm, friendly, and conducive to good conversation. This couldn't be farther from the truth. The music was annoyingly, brain rattling, ear shatteringly loud. Sad, because it's such a pretty place. I may go back during daylight hours, but even that's doubtful.
