by Mani F. on To paraphrase the words of Wu Tang Financial... Diversify your portfolio, b###h! And that is exactly what happened when me and Wisconsin D rolled to Shine to try something new..... First off, parking was comically easy to find - literally right in front of th eclub on the street. Cover was a reasonable 5 bucks, and once we were in the bartenders poured solid drinks without hitting your wallet with a haymaker. Add to that fantastic music and a chill, local crowd and you had exactly what the doctor(s) ordered. It didn't hurt that my boy D got in with the hottest girl the in club..... Speaking of which... the straight girl:straght guy ratio was about 60:40... just right when you take into account those ladies who are taken an d the number of gay men also in the house .... comes out to just the proportion to let everyone have someone to dance and chat it up with. Well deserved 5 stars....
by Irving Lanum on Everytime i have come here, i was bust and ended up in that corner- yacking...uh, sorry TMI.. Yo playas and haters! This place is for you cause u got your free coat-check on entrance with proper service by staff serving at the tables, working the bar and managing partners roaming and sharing the experience of this new, cool, swanky-danky spot. Excellent design within the confined brick walls- probably the most successful approach on creating the look out to the brick wall kinda appealing--nice touch with the lighting and multi-tiered seating options. The bathroom stalls remind me of being on an airplane cause they are quite a squeeze and damn it is dark in here!! Not only did i have no room to do the safe one step back and pee approach(guys you know how we do!) but they play all these sounds thats seems to have come from the Tarzan soundtrack...okay the sound of running water helps with the flow, but dood Todd even warned me that a monkey might jump out of my ass...umm..scary. Nice touch with the comp'd cigs at the sink...felt like i was at a strip club or something, not that i ever been to one--just heard stories. Too bad they were Marlboro lights =( My fav place was the smoking room at the end of the bar on the far left side of the room. They really did an excellent job on controlling the air and making the space not soo smokey. Drinks were tasty, nothing to get all excited about...but quite pricey.
