If you're Korean, you know this is one of the go to places in NYC Ktown. Their Thursday night Happy Hours get packed, and on any other night it's at least a moderately full place to enjoy time with friends. It's a cafe atmosphere with your full service Korean bar.

Was taken out to STK last night - showed up at 7:00 and the place was already getting packed! We only waited for our seats for about 10 minutes (some of the group had gotten their early) and stayed by the bar where we ordered a round of cocktails. I got the Tea Time - one of the best cocktails I've had in a while! Earl Grey tea with mango-infused vodka, or something like that. We were a large group of 7, and were placed in the back in a great corner booth. Our server was very friendly, knew a lot about the different cuts of steak, and attentive. Music was good and the whole place had a great atmosphere! The food: Appetizers - we started out with the Fried Oysters (special of the day), Tuna Tartare w/ Plaintain Chips, and "Lil' Big Mac" Sliders. All were absolutely AMAZING. If you had to go with one, though, I'd say go with the Sliders. There was definitely a hint of truffle on them, which made them extra good. Steak - I ordered the Medium sized Bone-in Rib Eye topped with Black Truffles, cooked medium rare. The steaks, which are aged cuts of steak, was perfect, and the truffles were divine!! The meat was cooked just right, with that nice crispy charred texture on the outside. It was a great size (I'm small, so I couldn't finish), and the flavor of the truffle combined with the beef was delish. Also, if you ask, they'll bring you out a whole set of sauces to go on the steak, from red wine sauce to blue cheese with garlic, to steak sauce, and many others I can't remember. Sides - For sides, we ordered the Mac & Cheese, Creamed Spinach, and Truffle Fries. Mac & Cheese was the best, but they were all great additions to the meal. And a side note, but the Truffle Fries really resemble more  little bricks of potato than fries. Dessert - By dessert-time, we were all so ridiculously full, so we just ordered the Cotton Candy (since one of my companions said it was "just like whipped sweet air". Fun and delicious, it came with two chocolate covered strawberries. As you can probably imagine, everything was spectacular and I'd definitely recommend it.

So, this is a nice hotel. My main problem was the service here, which was surpisingly bad. In fact, it would probably get fewer stars if I'd had to pay for the room myself. When I checked in, I was given a room with 2 queen beds, even though I'd requested a king. Not a big deal, but the clerk non-chalantly mentioned it when she handed my key, and when I asked about it, she disinterestedly said, "oh, we process that as a request, and there wasn't availability." Okay then. Not a big deal. The room was very nice, but after I got back from dinner, I could clearly hear music coming from what sounded like a nightclub downstairs. After a couple of hours of that, I decided I really wanted to go to bed, and I wouldn't be able to sleep with the noise (yes, it was that loud). When I called the front desk, I was again, non-chalantly, told that there was a party in a room downstairs, and when I asked, they said it would end at 1 am. I was never offered a solution or an opportunity to switch rooms, or even a simple apology! Besides the shoddy service, a hotel this nice (and expensive) should have better soundproofing than that, or otherwise not allow parties to go on so late. Ugh. I did end up getting to sleep, since the music ended around midnight, thank goodness, but the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. If I want to deal with that kind of stuff, I'll just stay in a Motel 6 next time. That said, although the experience did have many strikes against it, the room was very nice, the bed was comfy, and the hotel lobby is pretty. And my breakfast (pecan pancakes) was tasty. I'd be angrier if it was on my dime.
