by Nikki K. on I went to TOP FLR with a (future) bridesmaid and was impressed with their Tofu dish. After that, my mom wanted to try a new place for Mother's Day and we took her here and she loved it! Although the space is small, there was enough room for the 5 of us, even though we squished in and had to sacrifice room-wise. We got different appetizers that fed carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans. I know the menu changes from time to time, but they are seemingly prepared to make sure someone with different eating idears can eat here.
by Clementine Pantoja on If you want good Ethiopian food and aren't in a hurry, Club Waziema is a good place to go. The bar atmosphere is a little disorienting to the newcomer - it doesn't look like a restaurant at all. But the food is tasty, well-cooked, and reasonably priced, the wait staff are friendly, and the beer list is extensive. Pluses: Very accommodating -- willing to add extra eggs for a minimal extra charge when everyone at our table wanted one on our family-style chicken meal. Very friendly, social wait staff. Minuses: Tables are small, the food takes a while to arrive, and the place can be very loud if it's full. Best for: Early evening dinner and drinking with friends, when the conversation is more important than the speed of service. Good things come to those who wait, and in the meantime, there's beer and pool!
by Rocco B. on I usually only go to dank dark coal miner bars in the Tenderloin where I can cry into my two dollar miller high life. But every now and then, I'll treat myself to a trendy-20$-to-get-in dance club. I went with an open mind (and full wallet) and had a pretty good time. The sound system was superb. It was loud, but very clear, and you could actually hear what other people were saying. They also had a pretty impressive lighting setup and and fog and disco lights and crap. I'm glad that they entertained my ass for the 20 bucks I paid to get in. I went with co-workers (one of which was a very hoity toity senior level guy). When we got pretty drunk I think I asked him if he wanted to go find some blow and hookers. I guess I'll find out on Monday.
