"uh, go head...go head...you fancy huh, you fancy huh?  Nails done hair done, everything did..." Gawd, I love doing club/bar reviews.  Especially since I don't remember the last time I went to a "club"-- rateclubing about it really makes me giggle with joy.   Because, really, who goes clubbing in the city?  Apparently, me, myself and I.  :) So, Roe is actually NOT bad.  It's good times.  The music is top 40/mash-up mix.  It's kinda small, but it was Christmas Eve, so the place was obviously not packed..except for those who needed a break from the family.   The crowd is a little more hip, dressed up.  I don't remember the age of folks, but there seemed to be a lot of transplanted Europeans there.  A lot of men dancing with one another, but not in a Castro sort of fashion.  I had a blast!  I definitely got my dougie on. Tip:  Unless you're on the guestlist...and again, who goes clubbing to put themselves on a GL?  They charged $10 to get in.  Which in my opinion is a little "booooooo!" "and look I really think that nobody does it better, I love the way you put it together..."

Since every night its different, and the crowd and feel of the party depend on who promotes the party, I'll try to limit this review to just the space and music.  For a while, I just went on Fridays- no cover for ladies (RSVP before) and open bar till a certain time. Great for my budgeting self. And there are like 3 bars (2 downstairs, 1 upstairs) I really like the space of Hiro, just enough sitting area and a decent dance space. The DJ varies every time, but as long as he/she is up to date with dance music, I usually don't have any bad critiques on them.

Nothing but good memories here. You can start off with some prickly pear margaritas and food across the street at Vivo's and then finish off the night at the Red House. That's what I like. Drinks that are excellent: Lemongrass mojito (!!) Some grapefruit thing (bellini? martini?) Gin and Tonic (heavy enough on the gin that you feel like you got your money's worth, but not so heavy that your mouth feels like it's filled with hydrogen peroxide). Actually, pretty much all of their mixed drinks are delish. But on the pricier side. Get the Hefeweizen on tap with lemon. They also have Fireman's. Beer comes in rather large goblets and is reasonably priced for what you get, even by Austin standards. I really like the atmosphere. Very laid back and the perfect place for friends to drop by/meet up (you can always pull up a chair). Everyone seems friendly and slightly tipsy the whole time you're there, and so it's a happy place. A nice mix of people, too - I didn't see the customary clump of frat boys or Texas blondes when I went.
