by Noble Ruoff on This place is huge! And the cocktails were strong. I'm surprised were able to navigate between the lower and upper levels as deftly as we did. I started off with the Chelsea Colada (I couldn't see the menu so I chose the first one off the list) and it was pretty good. My friend got the caipirinha but she thought it was too syrupy. We stuck with mixed drinks after that. $30 minimum for credit cards. There was no line when we arrived around 11:45pm on Saturday and the main floor was not too crowded so getting a drink was not a problem. We eventually made our way up to the top floor, which apparently is where the real party was. Pretty crowded but we were still able to move around. People were dancing up there too. I like how it felt like we were outside but it was still covered. Music was fun - hip hop, top 40 - danceable stuff. Overall good experience.
by Darryl Denyer on It's 2am, the bar has closed, and it's a choose your own adventure situation. You can either: 1) Watch amateur strippers @ The Republican. Note: the girls are gross and it's very smokey. 2) Eat a western omelet at Midtown Diner. 3) Join the sausage party at Ruba Hall. Note: the old man owner gets really grumpy at 330. 4) Join the shirtless gay men at Vouyer for a continued dance party. My selection varies depending on the night, but this past Friday when I checked out the Making Time party at Vouyer, I was met with a floor full of people just as enthusiastic as I was when the DJ transitioned from MGMT's "Kids" to The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping." Imagine my excitement when I got to publicly cut a rug to music that's typically reserved for weekday nights spent practicing dance moves to a disengaged mirror.
by Susan S. on Pricey, but fun bowling. Come on a weeknight (Monday I think) when there is a set price and blacklight bowling! For the amateur or serious bowler, your crowd will not be disappointed. Don't be afraid to reenact moments from Grease 2. The bar food suffices. The beer flows. The competition will get the best of you!
