by Marlena G. on Welcome to the city, folks. The stores. A-OK. Location. Cool. Public urination. Check. Essentially it's a train station first, mall second. In all seriousness, it's not quite as bad as it sounds. The stores are pretty typical and there are some decent eats in the food court. During my long waits in between Amtrak transfers I found this place convenient and time consuming enough to chill while killing five hours. While I wouldn't expect awesome customer service or a Tiffany's on the ground, there's enough of your usual mall fair to amuse most people if you can get over the urban setting. Decent on its own but not really worth a stop if you're not in the area. Strangely enough, I find that while this type of thing is so common back in the big apple where no one really gives a damn, many of the PA/Philly locals I've met were totally horrified. I absolutely hate to give into the popular New Yorker stereotype, but really, the Gallery's not all that horrific or dangerous: of the dozens of times I've popped in I've never been harassed, assaulted or personally bothered by anyone. If peeps are looking to go ghettotastic in front of Kmart I really could care less: I'm there to shop. Sure you come out smelling like a public urinal but hey, when you need those head phones for your iPod, you need 'em.
by Marisol Gutter on I liked it, which is rare for a bar I can't see from the street. I have said for years that if you are gonna have a bar, you should be able to see in the windows, get a feel for the place, the vibe, etc. However, like Barcelona, being underground IS the vibe here, and they pull it off well. The night I was there there was not much to speak of in the way of music, but a good DJ would turn this place into a top notch party.
