I've been to Touch on several other occasions and left each time feeling indifferent about the place.  Yes, drinks are pricey, but that's to be expected in Midtown, and the atmosphere of the place was generally pleasant.  Thus, I went there for New Years Eve fully expecting it to be crowded and for drinks to be watered down, but never expecting it to be as bad as it was.  I literally had the air squeezed out of me as I was trying to make my way through the crowd to get to the bathroom.  Like others have said, they were way over capacity, which is why it wasn't surprising when it all became a madhouse when it was time to leave.  Coat check was absolutely heinous and poorly managed.  After waiting in line for literally 3 hours, 3 people in my group never got their coats back.  In frustration, bouncers started yelling at anyone who crossed their paths, throwing people out for no reason, plowing people down as they pulled unruly people out of the club.  Little regard was given to safety. We were told to come back the next day to see if they had our coats.  I was led to a room filled with racks of coats from the night before.  I understand that the club is not responsible for lost or stolen items, but we're not talking about a handful of coats here -- it was racks and racks. I never got my coat back (neither did the other two people I was with) and I will never come back here again.

I've been wanting to go to Nightlife since it started, but I never got around to getting tickets until last night. My friend wanted to go there for her birthday, so a group of 13 of us bought tickets in advance and made it over there. Parking: I hate finding parking in the City because I suck at it. I went for the garage and gladly paid the $10 flat fee to not have to deal with the stress of potentially hitting things with my car. Museum: This place is SO different from the museum I used to go to every year as a kid. It was a strange mix of nostalgia and discovery for me. Definitely not enough time to explore, so I will have to return. Crowd: As everyone else has mentioned, LOTS of people. I like that people are dressed up and that it's a fairly diverse crowd. At one point, I watched random people breakdance battle--awesome. Planetarium Show: My friend waited in line at 5:45 for tickets so we were all able to get in. I think this would definitely be a trip after a couple of drinks, but overall, I'd say go to the Chabot Space and Science Center if you want to see a cool show. Plus 5 points for a funny presenter though. Food: Expensive and not worth it, I think. Overall: Pretty awesome just to be at a museum at night. Makes me feel smart and classy. I would definitely do it again.

My name is Jen and I'm an All-American girl.  I was student council president, captain of my highschool sports teams, an intercollegiate athlete and graduated college w/ honors in May of 2006. In August I moved to sunny Los Angeles to better my life and to get the hell out of my small town in NY state and somehow managed to find myself, 8 monthes later, at Sam's Hoff Brau on my 23rd birthday getting yelled at by security guards w/ bullet proof vests (we are in the ghetto after all) b/c apparently you are not allowed to be topless if you do not work there. well, mr security guard... I'm no tramp.  I'm a smart, slightly naive and possibly tipsy 23 year old girl! WOOHOO!  and you see this man right... here!? he's my boyfriend! (lucky stranger of the moment). timing is everything of course, and at this point homework girl by day/pirate stripper by night throws me my shirt and I run back to my table of my slightly mortified / impressed co workers. awesome. the only thing more awesome is that some sketchy ass guy asked my dear friend david if he could have a "go" w/ me and the apologized profusely when he found out that I didn't work there. awww... a twisted weird compliment, but a compliment none the less! if architecture and design doesn't work out... I think I'll costume up as the "jeans and tshirt" girl and spend my nights workin' Sams Hoff Brau. (I love this place. the wait staff is incredibly nice and the girls are super friendly.  the shady men sitting at the stage will give you stacks of cash to give to the ladies, the lap dances are hilarious and the table dances are better.  for those of you who deep down freakin' enjoy seedy strip clubs... this is your cup o' tea.)
