by David M. on So as of late May '09 Allison Melnick is no longer associated with this venue....with that being said, they place has gone down hill... I went last night (Saturday 5/23) and it was completely dead, there are 3 rooms and because it was dead they only had one room open all night, I heard this was the same thing last week...anyhow they made us wait in line for 30 mins because we didn't want to buy bottler service. The lady working the door entrance was very rude (older thick blond woman) She is totally messing up the vibe of that place it used to be a lot of fun... I think she may be jealous of all the young skinny girls there, no joke. Anyhow, I do not recommend this club any more...don't waste your time, go somewhere else!!
by Jenz y. on i came here once for a electronic dorkfest (or as my friend called it, "knob twiddling), and was impressed with the slideshow accompaniment that came with the show. yes, it's in the heart of the TL, and yes, crackheads will heckle you as you come in and out, but it's apart of the territory. you step into the bar area and then go downstairs to the basement, where the live music and i presume the dancing occurs. surprise of the night: we got hungry mid-show and decided to order some pizza. per some encouragement from my show partner, we got the bleu cheese and pear pizza. and it was SO. FUCKING. GOOD, i have not had better pizza since. no lie.
by Valentin Abatti on Cafe Du Nord feels like hanging out in someone's house. There's the back area with the cozy couches, the hang-out area with the pool table, the long bar lined with stools, and the stage area where all the cool indie rock bands come to play. All of these areas come together to create an awesome, cohesive space to hang out in and watch some great concerts. Cafe Du Nord is classic SF - and I'll keep coming back!
