by shauna m. on I hate how you have to go on the street to go smoke, ah.. one upon a time they used to have a smoking room. Also the drinks are quite expensive and believe it or not they charge for soda. Most bars will just give you a soda and send you on your way cause they want to support designated drivers. Honestly I would have given the venue 4 stars; but at the end of the party I had a huge migraine and sat down in the back on a couch with my friend who happened to be a guy (I am female). I decided to close my eyes for a while and security threatened to kick me out for "going to sleep" My boy was wide awake holding me so it's not like I was on drugs or anything.... I even tried to explain I had a migraine so they finally left me alone. Sorry kinda lame in my book, again most clubs will offer you a place to chill and get you water or something. Another thing that bothers be is all the vagrants that will harass you while you are outside smoking. There was one homeless crackhead lady that the security was actually egging on. The told her they would give her $$ to climb in the trash can. Which she did and it was quite a spectacle people had camera phones out and everything.... at the same time I still felt like it was unprofessional and childish. If a really good dj comes to ruby skye I will go again as the did have a really good soundsystem, and the venue was well air conditioned I actually get really cold If I am up against the stage.
by Erika R. on Ahhh.. my first NYC club. Glitz and glamour. Beautiful people standing around while good music blasts through the speakers. Okay, I may have been buzzed but I really liked this place the first time I came here. It's beautiful inside! There are 2 levels; the main level features a bar, the table service area and a DJ booth. The couches are pretty comfy and there's enough space to dance as well. The VIP area is also downstairs, behind some roped-off, curtained doorway. Pretty swanky. Oh! And the restrooms! I don't really remember how we got to this specific bathroom but I think it was the VIP restroom because it was all roped off. They have chocolate in the little waiting vestibule between the bathrooms! GOOD chocolate, too! The upper level is just a dance floor with another bar. Nothing special. The second time I came here, I was definitely a lot more sober and saw that it's not as big or beautiful as I had first thought. Also, the bouncers are pretty nice. I've never waited in line, nor have I had a hard time getting in even when I dressed wrongly for the occasion (t-shirt, jeans & FLIP FLOPS. F'N FLIP FLOPS and I still got in). Drinks are average priced, music is decent, the crowd depends on the night.. oh, and I heard Marquee is supposedly the club you go to hook up.. so.. be careful! ;)
by Adan Monestine on This is my new favorite venue in NYC. The space is a charming multi-level old building. Plenty of space and multiple bars. No crazy security checks on your way in. For the smokers out there, they let you go out for a cigarette and re-enter. Overall, a pleasant show experience.
