by Holly C. on I went on a Friday night. The crowd seemed more European. I think this is a good place to go to if you enjoy house music, as the 2nd floor/hip-hop floor was mainly 80's music. The venue itself is decent looking. I like the split stairs that overlooks the house floor. There isn't too much space to dance on either floor however, and there was decently packed by 11:45 PM. I've heard the door is on the tougher side, but my friends & I were on a guest list & got to skip the line.
by Danielle B. on Cool concept, went on a Monday and it was PACKED, a "friend" from high school happened to be friends with the people who's table we were at, weird, and the only meaningful conversation he could manage was "hey can I bum a cig"; wow after all this time, though I admit, it was kind of loud we couldn't have really had a heart to heart. Layout was sort of weird, and it was kind of hot, the usual assortment of hipsters, wannabe hipsters and models, nothing unique except the concept, though I find it hard to believe that wind powers the sound system, you could hear the bass from down the block ha ha Update: Oh how could I have forgotten, the bouncer was a complete a**hole, I showed him my id, which is perfectly legitimate, and he argued with me for roughly 5 minutes telling me it wasn't me, I have short hair in the picture, I have long hair with bangs now, horrors, I showed him credit cards, insurance cards, work id, like 5 forms of back up, my friend with the table had to come out, ridiculous
by Isaac Hoss on Just for the record, i love hanging out in union sq, everything you could possibly need in your vicinity, but if i really felt the need to bowl, i'd take my chances and venture out to chelsea because you wont' be getting any bowling done at Bowlmor. Before you are even allowed to deign your presence upon bowlmor, you are grilled by the bouncers who for the record take their job too seriously. Up the elevator and....drum rolls please.....you are right back in crush and pack and feels like you are at club. For the number of times i have been there, the place is way too crowded. To wither a way your time while you wait for a lane to open up( which is an average of 2hrs) you spend whatever money you have on drinks(careful by the way..you are going to need every penny to be able to afford bowling). Trying to carry ona conversation is impossible because of two things 1) the place is packed as hell which means everyone is talking loud to be over heard.2) Well the music is loud. Its a cool place to go once in a while & maybe impress your out of town friends with, but thats about it.
