by Jenna S. on Ah, Carman's. Some people love it, some people hate it, but I'm a fan. I had a great experience any time I've gone. I had a white chocolate & lavender waffle once. I have to say, it was freaking fantastic. It came with fresh sausage from the Italian Market which was also pretty great. I didn't mind the coffee, even out of the boob mug. Carman was pleasant to me (her daughter's name is also Jenna, who is apparently a pain in the ass from what the waiter said), she even waved hello & said good morning. The place is tiny, rather crowded with crap and, yeah, Carman can be moody. If you want a great breakfast, go there. Just shut up and eat. You're not there to socialize, you're there to eat.

I know that I wound up with someone named Scott's phone number. Hi, Scott. Who are you and how did I get your number? Let's hang out! I can vaguely remember that I really enjoy the decor of Cafe Du Nord, and think their bartenders are friendly and efficient. I was good and drunk and they obviously lent me a helping hand. I sat at the bar and almost fell asleep on my friend Sean, but whilst doing so, I remember noticing that Cafe Du Nord is actually a pretty big place, and I like that. Lots of shadowy corners to one day either bang or do drugs in. My ears weren't bleeding, so the acoustics are good. I recall feeling frustration, however, as I waited in line for the ladies room. Two stalls? My bladder says NAY. All of these things added up equals four stars. Maybe 4.5 but Rateclub sucks at fractions.
by Lonna Blanchett on Last week was my first time at the Star Light room with a friend. We got there around 8pm and got some drinks and food before the jazz band started. This was on a Wednesday so there was no cover charge and Rich Armstrong was performing. The entrees are on the pricey side and so are the drinks, but we got this really good fruity drink (forgot the name) that we both enjoyed. The band started playing and the singer was really great. The decor was alright, and the booth we were sitting in all the way up front was a bit too cold since the AC was blowing right above us, so we were moved two tables back. I think the view is what made the evening the most enjoyable and the fact that the person performing that night actually stopped to have a conversation with us which was really nice. Overall, it is pricey, but if you go there on a weekday and stick to one drink it's pretty enjoyable and the view is well worth it. Also the service was very attentive and all the waitresses and staff were very polite and not at all snobby as you;d expect in these upscale places from our experience that night of course. My friend and I have already made reservations to come back this Saturday since I wanted my hubby to enjoy it and some of her friends. So even if you don't want to spend, please come and check out the lovely view at least.
