If you plan on going to The Box, first make sure you are guaranteed to get in, otherwise you will be standing there..forever or never. Second, make sure you are ready to pull a morning stretch, cause the show starts around 2am, so either stay rested before or drink your favorite energy drink to keep you alert. If you are one of the lucky or privileged to enter the halls of this venue, you will be treated to a surprise provocative and racy vaudeville show that will blow your mind. On the downside, the helfty cost of drinks at The Box could blow you pocket book. I would expect something like this in L.A., but I don't think this type of venue and 21st century revision of the vaudeville show exists there...yet. Expect people to start biting the idea. Actually, it's rumored that the idea came from the Slipper Room just a few blocks east, but The Box really configured the style into a posh club.

"COMPOUND YOUR NIGHTLIFE" -Billboard around the corner from the club Has anyone else noticed that the club itself has no Compound sign? I guess they don't need an introduction because the club is a hotspot! Compound is the Friday Night Staple (V-103 live remote) for me and my crew. I have been here more times than I can count. I love this place. Firstly, they have enough compassion for their patrons that they cover the lines with tents. And in the winter, they equip the tents with heat lamps...how sweet of them! No, seriously. Secondly, I strongly appreciate the fact that you do not have to resemble a can of sardines inside the club. People do not have to be all on top of each other (unless they want to =X) because there is so much room! Three (or four) different DJ's, various rooms/areas, ample space..what more could you want in a nightclub? Well, fun, of course...no worries, Compound certainly has that covered! Thirdly, for those who like to throw a few back, there are like 4 or 5 distinct bars (with 2 in "Ride" the most popular room), so there's never a problem with folks falling all over each other at one bar trying to beg the bartender to take your order. Fourthly, ladies, Compound has more than enough places to sit!!! If your feet get tired, you can sit in the big black chairs in "Tenshi" (at the front of the club) or perch yourself on the side of the building or rest in the seating in the "Ride Patio" between "MB1" (the first room) and "Ride" (the second room) (I didn't know they actually gave these rooms names!...visit http://compoundatl.com for more info) Compound is also a great day spot too. When Tyler Perry was filming "Daddy's Little Girls," the extras were held here (I had a bad experience but that's another conversation) and I also worked a Dell promotion here a couple of weekends ago. It was during these day time visits, that I got a chance to see "The Loft," which is the exclusive exclusive VIP area. Complete with Cali King bed, flat screen TV, modern furniture and...dare I say it....a half-bath and SHOWER??? Yes, folks, the club has a real shower in it...I've seen it all! The VIP "Bamboo Room" inside of "Ride" is quite nice too...but "The Loft" just took the cake for me...lol. There have been a few times I've gone to Compound that I've been blessed enough to find free parking (or my friends knew someone that lives in the nearby condos and we parked in that structure -- but DON'T do it unless you know somebody...you could get booted), but any other time, finding parking is cumbersome and paying for parking is ridiculous. The last time I went I paid $10, which wasn't too bad, but some of those little attendants think someone is about to give them $20...not I! Other than that, Compound is the hotspot. Random celebrities are here all the time. Sign up on their e-mail list to get in free before 1130 and, as always, "Early arrival is strongly suggested."

I hosted my birthday party at Element last Thursday, May 17th which was the party Bootie, and it was SO much fun! The staff there were really helpful, special props to Stephen and Luis. I gave them a guest list 24 hours prior to the event. Stephen did ask me that day if he had told me to have my guests get there by 11 which he hadn't so then he said don't worry about it. All my guests were given free admission, and we got 2 free bottles of champagne! which I def. had to kinda plead for to get, but it was worth it in the end. The party Bootie which orginated in SF was amazing. It was a "bootleg mashup" of songs splicing together Kanye West's Gold Digga with Beethoven's 5th Symphony. My guests definitely got crunk! The drinks are definitely pricey, $9 for a jager bomb (and a $30 minimum if you pay by debit/credit card), but it was my birthday so I didn't pay for ANY drinks!! it was a pre-dom straight crowd which they had "warned" me about, and a heterosexual guy from Ireland whose girlfriend was totally wasted did ask me quite persistently for coke, but I had my wonderful friends conversatin in our little knook and jammin it out on the dance floor so it was all good!
