I've been to Trigger many times, know the owner, took the tour before it opened and even have a premium membership with my significant other. It's great that there have been many renovations, remodels and openings in the Castro. Many places have become very run down and it's nice to have some places that have a more upscale feel, Trigger is one of a dozen of these places trying to step it up a notch. The pros- the higher prices attract a slightly older (late 20's, 30's plus vs 18 and over) and more professional crowd. The music generally pretty good and some effort has gone into the interior design of the building. It's not perfect by any means, but it's so nice to see an effort. The cons-  The prices are high on the drinks there's always a cover, if it's alcohol you are seeking, you can buy drinks elsewhere for half the price and without cover, sometimes one quarter the price at happy hour. It's fun that they have dancers, but often it's the same people, and unlike SoCal, New York or Miami, SF is not known for it's supermodel type beauty. Don't expect more than a few cute boys in silver shorts and maybe a girl or two which is fun, regardless of their credentials, ability to dance should be at the top and I don't see it here. The space planning is horrible, the bar is so huge it takes up the majority of the floorspace, leaving room for bartending, but little room for people or dancing. Despite the enormous bar, it often takes a VERY long time to get that overpriced drink. The staff throughout often have attitude, and not the kind that makes you want to keep going. The security and bouncers in particular are rude and aggressive, even to regulars and black card members, don't waste the $500, you won't really be treated any better... you might even be worse off. Overcrowding is a huge issue on weekend nights. with narrow walkways in some areas, it's easy to get crushed and may take a very long time to get to and from the coat check or bathroom: be prepared to fight your way through. Overall I applaud the owner for his efforts to bring new and exciting spaces to San Francisco and for revamping some of his old bars. Unfortunately the attitude from the staff and especially security has made this place less fun at a much higher price (but not necessarily a better experience). Maybe with time the formula will be perfected and worthwhile with better training of the staff, turn up the DJ's and entertainers a notch. I don't think there's a way to correct the overcrowding problem without limiting capacity or reducing the bar size in half. Despite our membership, we frequently choose to not go to Trigger due to repeated bad experiences.

I like Mezzanine a lot as far as concert venues go and i've seen some amazing acts here: LCD Soundsystem, Yelle, Passion Pit, Ghostland Observatory, Lovemakers... It's easy to get to the front if you need, but I like to hang toward the back. Bonus points for having lots of bathroom stalls for the ladies, a photobooth, and several bars throughout. Bartender upstairs last Friday night was kinda horrible in remembering where she was in the line of thirsty folks. We waited about 20 minutes for a drink (at the front of the crowd), but no problems downstairs so i'd stick to that. I also usually like the bar in the little nook but that seemed to be VIP/selling fruit (?). Since last I went, the top section of the club is now table/bottle service which is actually kind of a cool idea if you're there for the night. Never actually been there when a band isn't playing. Biggest bonus: They were really strict about grabbing the smokers of all substances and asking them to go outside (patio). I don't mind people getting their buzz on, but this was really great when you've got lung problems and just wanna dance and sing to the music.

I have seen a lot of mixed reviews for this place so I was compelled to check it out for myself hen a friend mentioned he was going for Sunday games. The place is well laid out, plenty of huge TV's and very cool, comfy chairs to sit in.  The service was quick throughout our time there.  They even had a dj that played old school rock jams during the commercials.  The bloody marys were decent (a mix was used), but the other cocktails were poured with a heavy hand. The food my friend had were the basic bar type, although I spotted better items like a Kobe meatloaf and such on the menu.  I had a breakfast burrito that was really good and filling. For a cool Sunday spot for drinks and games, Busby's is the spot.  I am intrigued to see how it is for a nightclub night.
