Under new management now. Good place to go and have a good time and have some alcohol. Cafe in same building is pretty good, too. Not too loud in there and great bartenders

Went for a night of drinking and dancing.  Very long, cold line.  Door guy insisted on splitting our group up.  $10 cover (for what?), $3 coat check, fairly expensive drinks?  I actually enjoyed some of the music the DJ played, but it was nothing out of the ordinary.  The floors were so slick with beer and broken bottles that I'm surprised I survived the evening.  One star because I was so drunk that I had fun and they had Dogfish Head on tap.

Tongue and Groove seems more like a bar with a lot of class than an establishment labeled as a dance club. Which I really don't mind considering my days of making a fool of myself on the dance floor are over, for the most part. Okay, okay, I do get a little crunk every now and then. The last time I was there I remember spending lots of money and having a pretty good time. The DJ was playing some old school hip-hop that brought me back to the good ole' days of highschool. Despite this place being ridiculously and almost over the top expensive, I really like the crowd that gathers here. It is mostly people in their mid to late 20's, because they only allow individuals over the age of 23 in the door. This keeps out the 21 year old riff-raff who have net yet developed the art of holding their liquor : )

This place is suffering major identity-crisis, and a big head. First of all, (i think somebody mentioned this before) it needs to decide whether it's a club or a lounge. The (crappy techno) music was way too loud to hear anything over, but hardly anybody was dancing (how does one dance to that kind of music anyways?). Second, and maybe this is because i don't venture to the City very often, but it seemed way too pretentious for what it was. Everybody was trying so hard to look cool and skinny that they all looked like they were having a terrible time. Bouncers are total assholes - we had a full table/bottle service under our party's name, and they still hassled us before letting us in. I give it 2 stars for the cool decor - I really liked the tree over the bar and the (somewhat creepy, yet cool) nature sounds that you can hear when using the restrooms. I most likely won't be going back here.
