by Jenna N. on I was pretty excited to try Carman's food 'cause she got so many great reviews on rateclubs, but ended up being disappointed. I decided to try the omelet and, well... sigh. It was watery and undercooked. All of the ingredients that sounded so yummy at first did not go well together: dates, seeds of some sort, lamb sausage? maybe? (forgive my awful memory, please!) and a lot more. Everyone that went with something other than the omelet seemed super pleased, so I'm hoping that I just had one of her failed experiments. I'd really like to go back and try another dish ... I've not lost faith in ye, Carman.
by Veronica C. on Over a year ago, my friend Rickety told me a story about how he was walking down Polk St. one day and someone in a fabulous magical clown outfit beckoned him into The Cinch. Not one to miss out, Rickety walked in...only to have me meet him there the very next night. Since that fateful day, our lives have never been the same. Not sure if that's how it really happened bc after 1 drink you don't really remember much, but that is today's version of the story. I absolutely love walking into The Cinch--it's like Cheers & eventually everyone knows your name--from the fabulous bartenders, to the barflys, to the patio people. I LOVE MY BOYS THAT TEND BAR! They are the BEST! On occasion, you might even be mistaken for a transgender...I certainly have...thanks Jim! I am 100% WOMAN....but we all have another great story to tell... Rickety and I call the Cinch our "other home", where all our sisters and Crazy Aunts can be found - and the occasional Daddy for some. If you have no hang ups, the Cinch is for you..gay, straight, bi, questioning, looking for a drink at a decent price on the way home from work...you'll love this place. And Charley Horse rocks...let's help Joystick make it's mark every other Saturday night as well. Cheers!
by Amada Dille on Be warned...this review is written after partying it up in Portland, and Seattle the week before. ehhh..this place is ok. I mean the venue is nice...w/ a lit dance floor on the ground level, a bar, a coat check, a smoking area outside, a vip area, a lower level w/ another bar. etc etc etc....But to me a club really isn't about the place, but the people. Two main complaints 1. Too many people look like me. No variety whatsoever. The place on a Friday night is 97% asian dudes/girls. (compared to a REAL mix of different people in Portland, Seattle). 2. Is it me or does everyone think they can bump you without some sort of appology. I can get hyphy w/ the best of them...but bump me again and I'll push you right back. This retard bumps me for the 3rd time and I finally turn around and tell him to back off. The idiot is like "What!" I'm thinking "Is this asshole seriously thinking that I should be intimidated?" He gets taken away by his girl and me and my friends go back to dancing. Despite this, I had an awesome time w/ the cool folks I rolled in w/. Nobody parties like a rock star like three UBH heads gettind down w/ their bad selves! Besides..... Katie's beautiful smile lit up the room...so the night was all G.
