I agree I sure wish that you could give zero stars! There was a long line outside for NO reason, since the club was far from being full inside. You get patted down as if you were entering a federal building, and yes my tiny 5 inch purse was inspected with a flashlight! So ridiculous! Then after we waited DIRECTLY in front of the club for a friend we had to get patted down again since we had left the club, albeit we were standing in front of the bouncers the entire time! The cover was $20, thank god we were on a list and only had to pay $10. If I had paid $20 to get in here I would have had a stroke! Oh yeah the owner was a complete ass-hole! The bouncers  wouldn't let my friend in with his "green-medicine" even though he had his card with him. So he stashed it in the car and was finally allowed in. Well the douche-bag owner comes up to him and says he knows that he still has it on him and that if ANYONE in the entire club smoked weed he would blame my friend for it. WTF first of all you have bouncers feeling the hell out of everyone before letting them in so how the hell would he have brought it in and second of all why the fuck would you treat a paying customer like that. DOUCHEBAG!!! In other commentary, I was there for a DJ release party and the DJ never showed up! WTF oh yeah and if you are into extra ghetto zero style having crowds this is the club for you! Hands-down the worst club i've EVER been to!!!

One of my least favorite places in New York.  I've only been for private parties, so I can imagine how much worse it would be if "uninvited".  The staff is one of the rudest in New York, especially the door people.  If you like being treated like complete crap, come here, if not stay away. After one party's time had ended, they actually threw everyone out of the club.  A friend and I snuck around that, only to learn how insanely overpriced the drinks at the bar were.  Thank goodness we hadn't been paying that all night! There are so many fantastic places to hang out in New York City.  Don't waste your time on this one.  Don't believe the hype.

Cielo is all about the music - house music. DO go here if you love house music, dancing, and being around other like minded party people who appreciate quality over quantity. DO NOT go here if you want to hear the latest pop club hits, bump and grind, or try to get a photo of you and your friends on Velvet List. The owner is a DJ which explains the quality of the sound system (one of the best in the city) and the quality of DJs that come to play. Don't look for big brand name DJs or laptop DJs here. Go to Pacha or PM for that. Cielo books DJs that other DJs come to hear. The dance floor is small but it's a real dance floor with a massive disco ball. You don't have to worry about a bunch of people trying to dance around tables and sofas.  People get their groove on just fine. Just mind your elbows when the music gets pumping. There are a few token tables on the side available for reservation but they are quickly consumed by the dance floor as the music gets louder and the night later. How is the crowd? Well, that's up to the men and women holding clipboards standing behind a velvet rope. They make sure the club is filled with people who fit the Cielo vibe - party people who care as much about the music as the name on their jeans. There's also a large outdoor space where you can cool off and have a smoke. TIP If this sounds like the place for you but you can't deal with a line - like most clubs you need to go early. If you arrive around 11pm and and only come with a few friends, you'll most likely get in without a problem. The club will be relatively empty so get a drink and watch the club fill up over the next hour. You'll be dancing soon.
