by Steve W. on another queens lounge to review. who needs manhattan. i came here on a sunday and it was pretty dead. they had 4 neon lighted bowling alley lanes, countless pool tables and two ping pong tables. the bar stretches very long, there are huge projector screens everywhere for sports and movies. they were playing a bootleg copy of the movie 'armored'. ooohhhh shaaat call the coppers. i heard it gets pretty packed on the wknds tho and its ladies night on thurs. there's enough space to dance altho i'm not sure they have a "dancing" license. yes those exist. good chill lounge, good music, friendly hot attentive waitresses/hostess. 4 stars play. no hat policy at the door drags it down a star. they made me take off my doo-rag and yankee cap.
by Steve N. on The club is located on the fourth floor of the Hollywood & Highland Center. I went here last night for my first time for the Visioshock, Friction, Entitled finale. It was my first Hollywood club and was well worth it. We got there at around 9:30pm (hella early, right?! we left LBC at 8:45pm, earliest I ever left for a club, the sun was still out almost!) We wanted to make sure we got in and we needed to pre-game. After drinking a bit in the car, we head up to the fourth level. While chillin outside, I see multiple import models and a porn star. I was like whoa, I need to go to Hollywood clubs some more haha. Got inside in about half an hour, hella buzzkill!! They took away my friend's carabiner (I guess they said you can put it around your knuckles to use it as a weapon?!) Being Hollywood and everything, I didn't expect such a strict pat down. I thought it'd be more like Vegas, no pat down. I never felt so violated in my whole life. That black guy checked everywhere! Underneath my belt, around the waist, inside my cigarette pack, everywhere...surprised he didn't ask me to take my shoes off to check my socks for drugs. Seriously, hella OD'ing on the security, they made me throw away my gum! I guess it's SoCal law not to have gum in the club so far its happened to me at v2o and Highlands. Anyway, we made the guestlist and got some tickets from the people checking the guestlist and still hadda pay $15! Luckily, I saw a college friend who was promoting and he just got me in, but damn, I hate paying. Anything over $10 is absurd, that's a drink down the drain...back in San Jose, I never paid for anything because most of the spots were free, free guestlist, or $10 tops, however it is Hollywood. Once we got in, it was pretty chill. Not lively yet, went upstairs to the house room and drank/smoked there for a bit until 11:15 and we headed down and it was way more crackin. Smoking patio and dance floor were packed. Honestly, clubs are what you make of it. If you're gonna be a wallflower and just chill, then you're not gonna have much fun. If you go out there and try to meet new folks (girls, of course duh, unless you're gay...because isn't that why you go clubbin? to meet girls? and drink, chill, dance with your friends?), by dancing, talking, etc. then you'll have a decent time. Get a couple numbers and bring a girl home, even better!! Naw jk, I'm not like that. Me and my friends usually make the most of any situations. Danced a bit, got pretty fucked up, met some new folks, and saw some old friends. All in all, it was a good night. Pretty nice club, decent sized dance floor, two levels, average priced drinks (2 shots of patron, one cranberry + goose for $30), multiple bars (the bar inside took forever and a day), music was koo (started to laugh when they played Zombie Nation, Sandstorm, old trance classics! they killed the lollipop song when they played it, some songs were played twice, but I understand, different DJs). I didn't drink much, just a couple swigs from the Hen bottle, a LC, and a shot of patron...by 2:00am I was ready to cut. I dunno how many people could party that late, I guess I'm getting old. Most of the people were gone by then too, the dance floor was still a little packed. Traffic on the way home was a bitch...only in LA would you find traffic on a highway at 3:00am..actually naw, it took 45 minutes to get to the 5, there was road construction so a lane was blocked off, not only that...there were also 3 separate car accidents! SoCal people need to learn how to drive. Anyway, I'd definitely return to the club, but not sure how crackin it's going to be now since those nightlife entertainment groups aren't throwing parties there anymore.

Apparently last Friday at Martuni's I a) jabbed a handsome man in the ribs b) drunk texted every pimp and ho in my cell phone c) produced another scene of graphic Ed-violence of which I cannot recall, but I believe it involved teeth d) made out with Kate e) made out with my hand f) I was serially licking people? g) passed out on the floor of my horrifically messy apartment with a half empty bottle of champagne h) thought I was a decent human being This public service announcement is brought to you by Ed M, your friendly neighborhood alcoholic train wreck. Oh yeah, and i) USED AND DID NOT LOSE MY CREDIT CARD TO BUY ONE OF THE BEST EXTRA DIRTY MARTINIS I'VE EVER HAD BECAUSE I EFFING RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes you gotta be proud of yourself for the little things, you know? Especially when you're me and you really lost all your personal dignity years ago. Baby steps.
