by Theresa L. on Chocolate Covered Strawberries + Dancers + an exclusive table = 1 fantastic night! We were celebrating my best friend's 24th bday and one of her other friend's birthday. I flew all the way from Philly to attend. I must say this is a great venue. Awesome for dancing, areas for people to sit an chill tha is if you have reserved seating ;-). Servers were really friendly. Only thing that grossed me out..... nasty fat girls having their junk hang out.... ALL OF it hang out. no joke. Definitely topped off a freakin fabulous night!
by Buford Bindel on Unlike many of the sleazy go-go bars in Jackson Heights that always display 'se necesita mesera' signs, Terraza 7 Train Café boasts an artsy friendly atmosphere. I live not too far from it and decided to check it out one night. I thought that this would live up to what was presented on their website but I was sorely suprised. First there was supposed to be a band playing that night. I called up the place and I even checked out the website and was assured that a) the band was playing and b) there was no cover charge. So I came there and found that there was going to be no show. Second, the place is so teeny tiny that you have to squeeze into the place. Additionally the drinks were weak so that's always a bad sign. Furthermore the crowd there wasn't as friendly as I would have liked. Everyone seemed to be stuck within their own little world-and I expected so much more. I guess that it might have been a off night for this small lounge, and I might come back to give it a second try. But it's always bad when you promote an event and it doesn't occur. Also it said that they accept credit cards but when I went to pay it said 'Cash Only'. This place gets 2 stars by me because they show promise of being better than a 1 star but need to communicate effectively what they are going to have that night and other need to know information like methods of payment.
by Rocky Westmoreland on As many of my friends know, Ecco is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. It has everything you could ask for in a great dining experience - delicious food, warm ambiance, supernice servers, great wine list. The bar area is also a nice place to grab a casual bite to eat, and the bartenders are very attentive and genuinely nice (ask for Seth!). Usually we start small plates and choose the fried goat cheese balls with honey and pepper, which are to die for, the squid a la plancha, and mussels. We also get a combination of meats and cheeses that usually includes the bresaola, speck and prosciutto di Parma meats and the Robiola, Verde Capra, and Cana de Oveja. the squid and goat cheese are my faves, as are the robiola cheese and the bresaola. I've also tried almost all of the pizzas, which change seasonally (along with some of the regular menu), which are good to share as well. As far as entrees go, I have tried almost all of them. Most recently I had the mako shark a la plancha with oil cured olives and hot chilis...it was mediocre. I think it was overcooked a bit. But everything else I've had (grilled steelhead, roasted pork, seared strip steak, bucatini), has been on the mark. For wine, I usually order the Gramona "Gessami", an aromatic white wine produced in Penedes, Spain (thanks to my friend, Lindsay, for turning me onto it). Ecco has something for everyone, and you will not be disappointed.
