It's your home bar on someone else's turf, unless you're local, I suppose. A great end to a great Saturday in Philly: live music at a pretty cool venue. I'm a junkie when it comes to lesser-known bands at dive-y type bars. I can't help myself when I see a cheap ticket and a sketchy address and Stornaway at JB's was a double-match. The staff appear to have zero tolerance for customer BS and that works perfectly for me at a live music venue: I want my drink, I want it quickly and I don't want to share any part of my life with you, nor vice-versa. A quick couple of orders, a couple of decent tips followed by a "Cheers" and I was in the good books. You should do the same. As for bar, the sound quality was great, the crowd was totally chill (yet  appreciative of both bands) and the atmosphere was perfect for tucking away in a dark corner, sipping on pints and taking it all in. Not bad for a $12 ticket.

I'm so glad that I tried this restaurant! It is wonderful for both meat eaters and vegetarians. We went here yesterday after hearing all of the excellent reviews on rateclubs and were happy that we did. Cute ambiance and excellent food for $6 a plate, you can not beat it. All of the items are hot and behind glass and they dish it up to eat there or for takeout. We went to the counter and must have looked a little overwhelmed so the exceedingly nice lady dishing the food asked if it was our first time there. She was super helpful and pleasant as she described all of the choices to us. She was knowledgeable about the vegetarian items that we asked for. There were several meat dishes but we also had about 7 vegetarians items to choose from. The $6 plate gives you your choice of 3 of the items poured over rice, which was big enough that I could not even finish my plate. I love that. I asked for her recommendations and was given a heaping plate of something eggplant, tempeh something, and jack fruit something (sorry, just one time there I don't have the names down yet). The sauces of each were amongst the best that I have ever had. My boyfriend got a vegetable fritter of some sort that was exceedingly good. If you like flavorful yet spicy homemade hot sauce let her put a dollop on your plate. This hot sauce should be bottled and sold, it is as good as it gets. If you are a snob about decor please skip this place and leave it for me. Otherwise, have a great meal in a nice family place.

ON POINT - Design, Drinks and Diverse Food - Five Stars! Bill Johnson has done a great job turning this old fencing studio into a swank bar that is inviting for a suit or a jeans going guest.  The bar is comfortable and large with a great view of the dining room.  I love the Mediterranean pictures that adorn the walls and the silver contemporary gear chandeliers bring the modern element to this European feeling restaurant. GOAT CHEESE _ GOAT CHEESE _ GOAT CHEESE I am in love with their cheese!  The combination of fresh fried goat cheese served with local honey and large ground peppercorns is the perfect combination.  I started with one as an appetizer and  continued to finish my meal with one for dessert.  They are so so incredibly good - you have to make a stop in to ECCO for a round or two! For dinner the hand made papardelle with braised pork was tender and flavorful.  Approachable portion size, lacked a little sauce but made up for it with the generous portion of pork.  Tried a bit of the duck they added to the menu - WOW flaky, juicy and flavorful. Incredible wine and cocktail list!  Sy, their beverage manager knows how to put together a diverse wine list and keep it innovative and continually updated.  The friendliest bartenders in town.  Eric will pour the right drink for you whether it is a basil infused Long Live the Queen or a flavorful and spicy glass of Tres Picos.  After starting with those two drinks moved onto a bottle of Mara Zinfandel - spicy, jammy and well balanced.
