by Oswaldo Galleher on We went to Rasselas for my Girfriends birthday with a group of twenty people. The waitress, Yevette, was incredible and took care of us the entire evening. I showed up early and pre-ordered for evey one which made it very easy. Now onto the food. If you don't like hot and I mean hot and spicey this is not the place for you at least to eat. 95% of our group loved it. We had an assorment of appetizers and the sampler platter. Now onto the live band. The Robert Stewart experience was outstanding. One of the best Jazz bands I've heard in awhile. They played jazz, funk, and some blues and if you weren't on your feet movin you don't know music. We will definitely be back!!
by Michael B. on The Varsity is... a burger stand. A huge, overgrown, filled with loud sloppy people, burger stand. And the burgers are OK. Let me debunk this big Varsity myth right now. People say it's all about the experience. Here's the experience. Go to Six Flags and buy a hotdog. You wait in a big long line with a bunch of people you'd rather not hang around. Everybody is being loud and saying what a great thing it is that they're there. Grandpa can't find his teeth. The security guard is eyeballing the knucklehead teenagers. You wonder if your car is being dented in the lot. Kids are running around underfoot with absolutely no control. Chicks who think they are cute are blabbing off at the mouth. There is a humungously overweight dude in an electric roller chair who gets in your way when you're trying to find the last clean table in the joint. Dudes with the most idiotic and obscene t-shirts are scratching their armpits while talking on their cell phones. The floor is sticky with god knows what, and the only decent people around are telling jokes about exactly where they threw up back in the days when they were in college. That said, the onion rings are pretty damned good. If you can afford the cholesterol.
by Margo R. on Some girlfriends and I rushed to Tongue and Groove last night, which was free admission for ladies before 11. Before long the place was crawling with loads of fashionable patrons in their mid to late twenties. The first room was filled with familiar hip hop songs, while the back section had a DJ creating interesting beats. My favorite thing about this club was the variety of people and the guy ---girl ratio (in our favor, ladies). There was every kind of person you could think of: the stylish guy with makeup and more hair product than my girlfriends and I combined, the overgrown frat boy in the business suit, the really, really old guy, the girl not wearing much more than her underwear, etc. Honestly I am unable to stereotype the crowd because it was such a mix. While I had a fun time, Tongue & Groove is not my favorite place. The music is mediocre, and the club is not very spacious. The cover charge varies from night to night, so definitely check out the info on their website before making your plans for the evening. Once inside, drinks are pricey - $9 for a mixed drink. Be willing to drop lots of cash. The interesting crowd makes up for all this to a certain extent. Overall I rate it a solid three out of five.
