If Bartleby's hadn't been closed, I would've gone there, but due to fate, I ended up walking in here for one thing, and one thing only: the (allegedly) infamous Scorpion Bowl. For a drink that tastes so great, it is shockingly strong; and with half a bowl, I was bouncing off the ground. That said, the food we ordered was nothing worth speaking about--2 stars at best. But the Scorpion Bowl makes up for it.

The pizza was eh.. and the service was horrible.  Guess when your used to having great pizza its hard to eat a place that doesn't at least wow you with service when the food was mediocre.

As a fan of the now defunct Plush Room, I hoped that my favorite jazz singer's debut performance of her new CD, "Swing, Bossas, Ballads and Blues" at the Rrazz would be as great as her Plush Room shows always were.  Well, I needn't have worried.  Sony Holland could sing in an outhouse and her fabulous voice would have us mesmerized and enchanted.  The Rrazz is a perfect venue for Miss Holland, great acoustics, with a wonderful sound man, handsome Argentinian, Martin.  The setting was intimate, without being too crowded and every seat seemed to have a good view of this beautiful songstress.  When she let loose with "At Last," accompanied by piano man, Benny Watson on the synthesizer, the building shook and it wasn't because of the San Andreas fault. The bar adjoining the Rrazz is quite nice with some wonderful libations.  Domick, a terrific bartender, made me a sumptuous Sazerac cocktail, that plummeted me forty years back in time to my nursing school days in New Orleans when that was our drink of choice in the Big Easy.   I'll make a special trip to the Hotel Nikko just for that drink!
