This review might be a bit biased since I work right above the place. But i'm inclined to say that this bar is one of the best in the city, the food is great and they always have something going on. Phillies games during the playoffs, old city sideshow, video games on sunday nights, quizzo, cute wait staff, you name it they probably have it.

Ok, so our promoter had been comminicating for a week with Ecco Lounge so that Thai Tv can come down and do a mini shoot there on a Saturday night. We were going to do a few interviews and promo the club, all was confirmed through e-mail. We got there early to set up in the patio. All was fine and dandy til bout 10ish when we found out that we had 15 people in line that they would not let in. We heard the Ecco employee say they only want "beautiful" people in the club. Not only that, but our promoter went to talk to the owner and i was told that they would not let our people in because it's too Asian. Really?!?! They told our crew we had to pack up, which we did, thinking we could stay but they said we had to leave and let us out through the back patio door into the alley. I have never felt so low before in my life! Not only did we take the 15 people with us but there were another 30 that came that night. So Ecco turned away 50 customers because we were too Asian and not beautiful to fit their Eco friendly club! This is 2009.... People still discriminate because of race in Los Angeles?

I went to Strip twice yesterday. Yes, you heard me right, twice. We were at Atlantic Station all day Saturday and Sunday for the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, so Strip seemed like a natural spot to grab lunch/drinks in between breaks. Our first stop at Strip was around 1:45 for lunch. There were hardly any customers, yet we still waited a good 40+ minutes for 1 shrimp cocktail (four pieces of shrimp thrown on a plate), 1 shiro maguro roll (very good), one seaweed salad, 1 cucumber salad and 4 pieces of nigiri sushi. All of the food was fine, but not sure why we waited so long. Our waiter voluntarily told us that he had been up all night, so he was obviously a bit out of it and was slower than molasses. Our second stop was after the AVP finals. We hit the rooftop bar/patio for drinks. Strike one was when the bartender screwed up the bf's drink order. Strike two was when she gave me a drink that I didn't even order. Not sure how water sounds like a bellini, but whatever. Strike three was when one of our friends ordered a tuna salad that took 50 minutes to arrive. Again, they weren't that busy. Strike four (if there is such a thing) was when the "bouncer" came on shift and came all of the way UPSTAIRS, OUTSIDE to the patio and told the bf to take off his hat as we were at minute 46 of waiting for that d*mn salad. Again, we both understand and were fully aware that they have a dress code, but we got there randomly in the middle of the afternoon, when there was a sporting event going on in 90-degree heat. We were sitting outside on the patio during "off-peak" hours and there was only one other table seated. I agree that hats should not be worn at a table in a restaurant, but we're talking about a patio/bar type of environment during a beach volleyball event 200 yards away. There's a time and a place to enforce rules and this didn't seem like the appropriate time. Anyway, I digress. The sushi is always good at Strip, but I definitely prefer the vibe at Twist or Shout more.
