by Kara G. on This is my review of Webster Hall as a music venue... I feel a great sadness when a band I like comes to Webster Hall. The sound is always terrible, the coat checkers are rude and charge $4 per item. This is especially frustrating in the winter - eachhat, coat, scarf is an extra accessory at $4 each. That blatant abuse of a necessity is really annoying. If you want to see a show, get there early because the sound is especially bad towards the back and sides.
by Vicki T. on If you miss your college days, then stop by Busby's for nostalgic therapy session! (Apparently, the night my friends and I went was the same night that my colleagues felt nostalgic too. Unofficial reunion!!) Whether that's appealing to you or not, that's pretty much what you'll get when you go to Busby's. Before we arrived, my roommate described Busby's best as a "cleaner frat house." No joke. In one section, there are a couple pool tables and stools to lounge around at. Go up a few steps and you'll enter a dance floor with a stage for live performances. When I last went, the band got the crowd jumping and riled up by performing some popular old covers (i.e. the ever so popular, Journey - Midnight Train.) One great thing that I liked about Busby's was that the drinks were pretty strong. Strong enough for me to make a face with each sip! Like what a few other rateclubsers have stated, Busby's tries to cover all basis by mashing a sports bar and club together - the best of both. I guess you can have your cake and eat it too!
