Had I actually got into the club, along with my group of 50, I would be reviewing the dance club ...and not the terrible organization of club management and promoters. We were there to celebrate a happy 25th birthday, and found a promoter who said he would help us get into Playhouse without a wait. We were to dress nice, Hollywood style, and get there by 10:30pm that Saturday night. We all arrived promptly and stood in the guestlist line, eager to get in. The promoter assured us we were to get in but he needed some time. Time passes and after a few more conversations with the promoter, the bouncers, and the 'nice' lady in the front, we discover that we won't be going in because the club is full due to bottle service, and the promoter's guestlist isn't recognized by the club. The end result is a group of 50 people, sober and annoyed by terrible club management, who should have told the promoter straight away that his guestlist is worthless and told the people on the guestlists they wouldn't get in. And then you have the birthday girl, whos only memory of her 25th birthday is how bad the night was because she wasted her night.
by Cam M. on Went there for happy hour on a thursday, tiny little hole in the wall bar, but decent happy hour. $3 beers on tap and cocktails. Only complaint is that they only had 3 beers on tap but i guess thats why its called koko cocktails and not koko hella beer on tap. Also they had a cool DJ spinning for such a small place.
by Lawana Whitesinger on I've been here about three times, and each time is a bit different. I've gone on fridays only. The cover is always high, and the drinks are expensive. It's almost as if you're partying in Vegas. The best thing to do is sign up for the guest list early (at least the night before preferably) and show up by 9-9:30 to get on the guest list line before it gets long. The crowd is pretty diverse, but not all the people inside are exactly crowd friendly. The staff is pretty nice and helpful, and the bartenders are quick to make your drinks. Just don't piss off anyone on the staff because I've seen quite a number of people who were kicked out of the club quickly because of disrespecting the staff (one girl chucked her drink at the bartender because she felt she made it wrong, and one dude trying to argue with one of the bouncers was thrown out quickly). The venue is pretty nice overall, but there are a few things that bug me about it. The club is quite roomy, but tends to fill up fast. Also, the dance floor gets quite sticky at times and feels gross. In addition to that, for a nightclub there are quite a few people who have a bad sense of hygiene. The VIP area is a great area to chill out and vibe, because it is clearly separated from the dance floor and when the dance floor gets crowded it's best to hang out in the VIP area if you get that chance. I guess the bigger the venue means the more you're going to spend; however I don't feel that you get what you pay for. It's a fun place to be if you're with the right people but you'd probably burn a hole in your wallet to do so.
