by Lucille Wearrien on Despite waiting an hour in the cold...I loved The Edison. The space itself is AMAZING. It's an old power plant turned bar. I say bar even though you might be tempted to call it a club. I would not call it a club as there is no dancefloor and the music isn't very loud. It's like a giant bar that feels like a club. Make sense? The Edison would be an awesome place to bring a date (assuming you don't need to wait outside an hour). It's also a very good looking crowd so it's a win-win for everyone!
by Ginette Esch on 3.5 - 4 I had a pleasant time at El Rio. It was quiet when I got there at 8 but it had just been raining outside. There was karaoke and people playing pool and eventually the back patio was open and some guy for charity thing was grilling up ribs, chicken, and hamburgers for $5 donations. The lesbian bartender liked me and I got 3 shots of whiskey (at happy hour it was only $3/each) for free. That coupled with a few more birthday shots and then scarfing down the burgers and chicken and veggie kebab the back patio provided to prevent me from vomiting was a nice touch. I'd come back, though it is a bit off the beaten path.
by hen a. on id check and no cover...random night....enter old duplex...narrow and cramp....warm, packed and tight...music thumps...sea of sardine cans...sliding through...swaying to beats...parked and conversations...haven't been out much...back to old school with old friends...vodka drinks plenty...lemon drops and vodka shots...taking refuge by wall...leaning against for rest....away from pushing crowds and spilling drinks....getting too old for this scene....tired and wanting home....
