by Kimberly J. on My friends and I (a group of 5 girls) went here last night when it turns into a "club" and the whole experience was meh. There was a line to get into the upstairs section, which we waited in for 20 mins, only to get up there and see it was EMPTY. It was nice with lots of seating and tables, but there was no music and some groups of people were not even speaking. It was a silent room. Very strange. The main floor is definitely the best spot to be if you want to socialize and dance. The DJ was pretty good, but the crowd was not very diverse, older, and not very attractive. I won't be going back.
by Rayford Tugman on What. The. Hell. Is. This. Place. Those were my exact thoughts walking in and out of here on a recent Saturday night. Top floor looks like a Vegas lounge with dim, candle-lit interior and absolutely no chance in hell of getting anywhere near the bar. The upstairs crowd definitely wasn't my crowd (to save the risk of offending anyone, I won't describe what kind of crowd it is). We overhear that there is more downstairs, so we head on down to find... a tunnel? Literally, the dance area is a tunnel. I am 5'1 and could touch the ceiling. Complete with rented-DJ-esque disco lighting, I felt like I was at a freshman year party in a frat house basement minus the free jungle juice. Oh and the bathroom was the grossest display of poor hygeine I've ever witnessed. It was bad, if not worse than a unisex bathroom at certain dive bars across the city (ahem Toronado). And those bars are actually worth going to. Save yourself the walk and stick to the main North Beach area.

It's a cozy zone off santa monica blvd and always has the freshest emcee's, the PROJECT BLOWEDIANS! along with fresh producers/deejays and such. Home base spot for a lot of us that know what a good friday night or grasshopper Wednesday(last saturday of the month) is suppose to be like. Also, Ragsta nights is hosted on Tuesday nights by imajeri. Fresh music always! well poured drinks at decent prices. yeah, i know what your thinking, it can be a bit grimy, but aren't all the best places? It gets crowded and you most likely will end up being elbow to elbow with someone you don't know but just smile and say hi, seriously, people don't bite, so chill, have a good time and shake ya groove thang, you won't regret it, just ease up! did i mention last year i showed up like at 1:25am and guess who showed up and performed? STEVIE WONDER! and i got a picture with him, once in a lifetime with a legend. if you see me there, holla and say what up, i definitely don't bite :)
