by Anita C. on Came here to celebrate my friends birthday since she told us it was an upscale club that was hard to get into. Pros: 1.) We got in within 10 minutes since we got hooked up -- no cover charge for us, but I believe normal cover is $20 after a certain time which I'm not completely sure of. 2. The venue is extremely beautiful it even has a pool in the back with canopies all around. It pretty much reminded me of the clubs in Vegas, but It's definitely more of a lounge than a club since the dance floor is rather small. Cons: 1.) I've only been here on a Saturday night, but this place definitely takes to older crowds more. If you're under 25 you will feel a little bit out of your element as I sure as hell did. The majority of the crowd that night was at least in their late 20's, early 30's..some even looked like they were in their 50's. 2.) This place is completely DEAD before 11pm so I'd suggest a late arrival BUT the line also gets extremely long around that time. 3.) All the dancers look like they should be at home tucking their kids in bed. 4.) Dress code wasn't strictly enforced..which I guess can come off as a pro than a con. People were dressed formal to extremely casual. I would definitely come back to Drais again..maybe on my 30th birthday?
by Lana Bracetty on We headed over here under the wing of a new friend in NYC. One of our group forgot her ID, they worked it out with our group and let her in. Nice. Thanks for being cool folks! The interior was well designed; the bartenders friendly, fast and efficient. Weird layout of dance floor, which actually wound up with a pretty good dance feel as you only need a few people dancing to make it feel crowded and alive. Big elevated platform down the middle of the dance floor to get up and dance on, as well as multiple levels of areas to dance or sit in surrounding. The DJ had an air-horn that melted my inner ear several times. Otherwise it was a pretty fun night club to end the night at.
by Jim R. on Hmmm...had exact opposite experience. The place was surprisingly nice. The problem with a lot of outer borough establishments trying to make it "like Manhattan" is that they focus on trying to make it look cool, as opposed to a good restaurant. A friend of mine told me it was actually good food and service, and he was right. My favorite restaurant in the world? No, but good food and a pleasant evening indeed.
