Went there last night with a few friends and got bottle service. The promotion company made it real easy for us although it seems like she didn't know answers to a lot of questions I had but oh well she was probably new. Our table location was kinda cool right behind the dj on the second floor. Popped a bottle of clicquot and got the night started off. Opened up a tab at the bar as well after we finished the champagne. Bartenders are extra cool especially if you open up a tab. They took care of me and made the drinks extra stiff. This venue is pretty big and the decor and shit was modern. Dance floor is in the middle which was a pretty decent size with two long bars on opposing sides. The smoking area was way too far and especially since we had a table upstairs, had to basically walk down two stories to have a ciggy. This place is pretty much all asian. The girls were whatevers here, but the place was packed. The music was decent, first half of the night playin a lot of hip hop and r&b. Then second part of the night, assuming the second Dj, they played a lot of top 40 mashed in with sum house music which is what i enjoy. valet parking up front made it easy. After the club when everyone was trying to get their cars back it, they were actually pretty quick. All in all I'd probably come back. Check this place out if you are into the all asian clubbing scene.

What the hell? I got an invitation from Gallery Bar to come to come to the opening night of their new lounge, Ella: a "glamour of the roaring 20s" party that was supposed to go from 8pm-something after midnight. They requested that we "try to dress your best", think 20s and 30s glam, etc. I had a confirmed RSVP email from the designated list person. I know the "laws of the nightclub door" in this town. I took time to try to dress as requested. I looked and acted just fine. I got there close to 9, which is on time when you consider that many clubs make people stand outside in any weather for 30 to 45 minutes after the event is supposed to begin. How dumb I is! "TRY to dress your best" should have been the tip off. At least I created a new word from the experience; one that's long-been lacking in our language. Behold the door-on! It's true it might not have been all his fault, but he's ultimately the one who could say yes or no. The ONLY people in front of the club were the door-on, bouncers and a stylish, well-dressed young couple who had just been turned away and looked stunned. Then I got turned away because, door-on said, they stopped letting in Gallery Bar RSVPs. When I asked why, since that's one of the owners' places, he said they overbooked their RSVPs and it was sooooo crowded. THEN WHY DID THEY BOTHER TO CONFIRM RSVPS?!?!?! Why didn't he even look at his list for more than a millisecond? Door-on said we had to be text-messaged to get in. What the hell is wrong with an email confirmation? Door-on: "Too many people, there's just too many people!" If a place is crowded, there's usually some indication of that outside, like smokers, people hanging out in front, going in and out, etc. There was no one there but us. WHAT K-HOLE WAS THE DOOR-ON IN? Were all the people inside, who ostensibly got there at 8pm, going to stay until the very end of the party? He was like the door-on at the Emerald City Gate in Oz. The couple had gotten the same story. We just stood there for a couple of minutes, kind of bewildered since so few people were even coming to get in. And we were all dressed up with no place to go nearby, because it was AVENUE A. But while we were there, they DID let in about 6 people who came after us--who did/didn't bother dressing as requested for the occasion, including an older guy with a worn, faded Adidas gym jacket and a phony press pass. (I can say becuz I know him--he doesn't even write this kind of review--just gets in to free eatin-n-drinkin things with his pass.) There was a guy in a plaid shirt & jeans they let in. Glamour of the whaaa? Sooooo crowded! Sooooo full of shit! Ohhhh and there's all their hype-itty about that interior. Well, I can't comment on that and never will, since I won't go back there. But I can tell you the club's exterior was more "Martha Stewart After 5" than Ella Fitzgerald. Was there any kind of acknowledgment  of or or apology for door problems from the owners or promoters the following day? Of course not! Smart promoters will do that, but whatever. The previous reviewer is right; there are loads of other places to go in this city. And plenty that aren't as crappy to potential customers as this. But hey, it's only Avenue A. Don't get too dressed up!

Alright so I would be one of the other bouncers that you first get to meet before you get into the club. As john stated this is a promoter run place so he is right when he let you all know that if you come on a saturday night its about 99 % possible it will be a party that has a large asian following now for all all of you who aren't feeling that come by on a Friday night  its usually a more diverse crowd. Come by say hi to John and me and just enjoy yourself and quit worrying about the smallest details and just have fun and dance the night away.
