STK is more of a raging party than it is a restaurant. 90% of the patrons didn't come for the food and half of the other 10% are too drunk to know what the food tastes like, which explains the exorbitantly expensive food. Few entrees are below $30 and even less taste good, but I'll get to that a bit later. STK is owned by One Group who owns One Little West 12 Street, Bagatelle, Tenjune, RDV, etc. All venues are very chic, trendy, expensive and are slowly becoming very bridge & tunnel. STK does not deviate from this one bit. Though its not as large as say Ajna Bar or Buddakan, STK is equally as chic in design. A fire place lights up the bar area to some extent so one can navigate, slowly, through dancing patrons and faux-leather couches. The one thing that I did love about the crowd at STK is that everyone acts as if its one big party so don't be alarmed if the table next to you pulls you over to start singing to the latest Rihanna song. Like I said earlier, the food leaves much to be desired. While the tuna tartare I ordered as an appetizer was actually quite good, none of the entrees were up to par. The Organic Free Range Chicken was dry and flavorless. The Roasted Lamb Porterhouse, though was cooked well, tasted unseasoned and bland. The Hudson Valley Duck Breast was the only marginally good dish as the duck was cooked well and produced some form of flavor. The sides I ordered, the truffle fries and mac and cheese, were both awful and not even worth the $6 price tag (I'd rather pay $26 for a plate of pasta with butter at Nello's than pay $6 for STK's truffle fries). None the less, I'd return to STK solely for the "party" atmosphere. The food isn't good but the atmosphere and decor make up for it enough to even out the good and the bad.

This is the last Italian night club in the City. I have an old friend who came to the States in the 1950's from Genoa and he likes to tell stories of the crazy nights he had in North Beach. This place is a throw back to that time. Bimbo's is a classic and they have decades of history to prove they have the right formula. My only disappointment is that the last two times I visited the mermaid was not in the fish bowl... What gives?

This is where the South meets the City. A visit to South City Kitchen will leave you wanting more. Like many restaurants on Crescent Avenue in Midtown, South City Kitchen is actually a renovated house, and the cozy, homey feel is the perfect backdrop for the Southern cuisine served here. There is also patio dining, and an upstairs dining area, in addition to the main dining room. The main room is bustling with activity, and has a certain magic to it. It is the perfect place to partake of Southern cuisine in a trendy, high energy environment. Cornbread, biscuits, mashed potatoes, fried green tomatoes, grits...And it gets even better... The wine list is impressive, with many choices that I had not seen on other Atlanta restaurant wine lists. Wines by the glass are limited though there are bottles in the $30-40 range, if you are seeking a good value. The Old Charleston She Crab Soup is award winning, and the wait staff sings her praises. After you hear the song long enough, you ultimately feel an obligation to try it out. Definitely worth the money. This soup makes you taste buds even sing. Its a sad moment when you realize...That the soup is gone, and your cup is empty. Also highly recommended is the Maryland-Style Crab Cake with chow chow and creole mustard aioli. Talk about some good crab cakes...They have my vote! I once came here for a business dinner and was spoiled with mounds of endless crab cakes...I must have had at least 3. When I visited the 2nd time, i ordered the crab cake appetizer and realized that the appetizer consisted of 1 crab cake for 12.50. Definitely worth the spend-age...but, I had wished that there were at least 2. Did I mention that I love crab cakes? When it was time for dinner....I ordered  the famous Buttermilk Fried Chicken served with mashed potatoes, green beans and bourbon gravy. That proved to be a very good choice. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal....The presentation was artistic, and the taste lived up to its hype. Too full for dessert? Think Again!!!!  BANANA PUDDING layered with homemade "nilla wafers", banana pastry cream, ripe bananas and fresh cream. Don't be a fool. This is one dessert that you can't pass up. Tasty, fresh, and serioulsy delicious. If you are not familiar with the Crescent Avenue area of Midtown Atlanta, then you should be aware that it is a bustling entertainment district with many nightclubs and restaurants in the space of a few blocks. Parking can be found at one of the many lots surrounding the restaurant. If you are from the South and you have a craving for country food with an edge, South City Kitchen is a must-dine experience and a guaranteed great time.
