I like UPS (both the service and their actual headquarters). Tracking packages is easy and even integrates into Gmail. How? I don't know. All I know is that when I order something online and get the confirmation email there's usually a link outside the message to track it online (although most messages also contain the tracking link). The drivers are all courteous and professionally dressed. I know that might sound stupid, but think about DHL or FedEx Home delivery employees and the contrast should be clear. Very reliable. I think it's a waste of everyone's time for people to get on here and post a one star review about one bad incident. Use them a few times and I think you'll have a good experience more times than not. ... and speaking of the actual corporate headquarters... it's nice. The people are friendly. In the past I've come here to bring information about new apartment communities and everyone was friendly, even when they weren't interested in the information. The facility is very well organized and it seems efficiently run (much like their actual shipping business). They love logistics. I love them.

I walk out to the patio to get breakfast, it's about 8:00 am; the sun is out; I am in the tenderloin; it is beautiful.  I pass the shimmering pool with my  bagel, orange juice, scone and water while overhearing foriegn language conversations and think to myself this is a pretty decent place to stay in SF. For those of you who don't know I am a San Jose dweller, went to San Jose High, join the monthly San Jose Bike Party for fun and wonder why San Jose doesn't have a full sized zoo...I mean even Fresno has one. So I live in San Jose love San Francisco and am torn by the thought of a lengthier commute and a much smaller place. Friend was having a surprise birthday party at a bar in the Mission and I figured we should probably stay the night since driving an hour post co-worker drinking is out of the  question. Phoenix was the best for location, FREE parking for guests and walking distance to Union Square the next day. Nicer than the other kitschy motel we stayed in in Santa Barbara, with a big clean bathroom and those nice giant motel sized windows looking out into the green and blue courtyard. We ended up staying two nights and going to Chinatown the next day just like real tourists. Travel + Leisure is right, it's all about the mini local vacations in an economy like this. People from the area already know the backstory, when Backflip existed and this place was a party-all-night hotel, well times have changed, you'll still see the occasional tour bus but you wont see Anthony Kiedis and quiet time by the pool starts at 9:00pm.  The only sounds you hear at night is the bass thumping from some terribly average house and 94.9 style rap coming from Bambuddha Lounge which is connected to the hotel. An inexpensive oasis in the Tenderloin!
