If you can deal with the bro-rific (or yuppie) vibes, and how a boat c. 1929 has been "salvaged" into a shrine of said bro-someness, this is a very nice bar.  On a mild July night, not much beats having a beer and enjoying the twinkling Hudson shore, with the skyscrapers of Midtown behind you.  Frying Pan is also pretty huge, so I couldn't imagine it getting as crowded and uncomfortable as various basement bars in LES.  Plus, they store Corona crates in cubic Costco-esque formations in the bar area.  If you've ever wanted to prostrate yourself in front of Goddess Corona, this is a good place to do it.

Love it! I work nearby and it is always a struggle not to go there for lunch or after work. Be warned, unless you go off hours be prepared to wait. But they are open late so it is a good place to stop for a late dinner or drink. Try the Delux Burger...medium rare...it's juicy and cheezy delicousness. Skip the regular fries and go for the Sweet Potato fries. They have the perfect balance of sweet and salty and excellent aioli for dipping. There is a large beer list and the salads are huge and perfect for sharing if you want to go green. All in all, a great place to grab a excellent burger and cold beer.

After quite a delicious meal at bar boulud, Chris C and i decided to forfeit dessert and go for drinks instead, yes, on a monday night because we're super adventurous and love to take risks. Since our last wild days in vegas, we were curious as to how tao in ny would hold up in comparison. Yes yes, the decoration is beautiful, and theres a huge buddha (which, fyi, i don't think any restaurants in asia actually have buddhas in the establishment....it is a religious symbol after all. It's like having statues/paintings of Jesus in a restaurant...) But that's pop culture for you. We only came for drinks, thank god. Because the wait seemed endless and even in the lounge area, our server seemed over whelmed. as far as I could tell, there was one girl serving about 10 tables...so needless to say, service was S L O W It's a nice place, a good mix of crowd. But wouldn't go out of the way to come here again.
