Beautiful view of Manhattan with chic 70's mod decor.  As hip as you can get in the city, but you will be paying to be the cool kid.

With 1099 reviews, The Edison probably doesn't need one more from me, but oh well. Advice on how to best enjoy it if you're not looking to spend a lot: 1. Have fun with the dress code. Don't get stressed out and start talking about "Guh so LA" ... just treat it as a fun excuse to dress up; 2. Go for Happy Hour. At 5-5:30, the Edison is EMPTY. You can sit anywhere, explore the whole bar, and avoid some of the more intense patrons. ALSO! Happy Hour features drink tickets for a $1 cocktail... the cocktail changes (I think daily), but they make their drinks well. I've never had anything that wasn't at least decent, and for $1 plus that setting, who can complain? 3. Don't valet (if you're being cost conscious, at least). There's tons of cheaper parking available downtown; 4. Get your $1 cocktail, wander around a little, use the fancy bathrooms, and then move on. All of a sudden, The Edison is the cheapest bar experience in LA. There are a lot of great bars downtown to move onto.

Had an awesome time here as part of Matzoh Ball 2006. Loved the crowd, although I'm sure it was slightly different from the usual crowd, and the drinks were good. Pricey, but good. So many places to run around, and so many different areas! Awesome! For sure will be back here some time soon.
