We went to Vault to meet up with a group of friends for e-cha (round 2) after drinking at Yi Ga Ju in Koreatown. While in LA I rarely like to venture out of ktown to get my drink on so at first I was a bit hesitant, but decided to go for the heck of it. And I'm quite glad we did! Vault seems to want to be an ultra-chick lounge but fails quite miserably at that. It's neither ultra nor chick, it's just lounge, well, sort of. It almost seems to be more of a local dive with a dance floor. The decor is nice and the ambiance is good but what made the place really stand out was the crowd. Nice mellow place with no one there to start trouble because the Lord knows I get into trouble all the time?! The bartenders, well, most of them, were pretty cool. Most of them pour heavy but two were a bit stingy on the bourbon. For a downtown LA spot, Vault is rather inexpensive. $9 per Makers on rocks is quite cheap considering the location. I think normally I would've gave this place a 3 star but since I was with such great friends and we all had a great time, I had to bump it up a notch.

I have not experienced the late night here yet.. but the two dinners I had here were quite nice.  The food was good, a large selection.  The lighting was dim if you are shy and its a date..haha, you might like that. The place looks clean and brand new.  It is one of these places with a slight identity crisis-- bar, nightclub, restaurant. lounge all in one.  I enjoyed it...

AMAZING food. I had the salmon and it was to DIE for...such a delicious melange of flavors I would never have expected. The sangria, too, was yummy. The decor is gorgeous, and the flamenco band and dancer definitely added to an already exotic atmosphere. The one complaint I have is that it always seems to be overcrowded and the layout of the place is not conducive to efficient seating. There are too few tables for a lot of hungry guests, so I had to wait an hour for a table. You should definitely go and expect a phenomenal meal, but be prepared for a long wait.
