Awesome place to go, hang out on the weekend and get some art.  Laid back atmospher with cool resturants and other bars in the area.  Better to get there by public transportation, parking is a pain but it is easy from bart or muni. The different pace for venue is a postive change then hanging out at a bar.

I was in search of a bright cafe with free internet, power outlets, good coffee and yummy snacks, where I could hunker down and try to write a paper. Sugar Cafe was pretty close to perfect. I had some hits and misses on my visit. I ordered an iced coffee, which ended up having a ton of coffee grounds at the bottom. When I went back to the bar to ask for a replacement, it took a while to get the guy's attention, because he was chatting with some friends, and when he finally noticed me and I explained, he asked whether the "stuff at the bottom of the coffee" was from the sugar/milk that I added or from the coffee itself (this was seriously confusing to me, because it was clearly grounds, and it would be even more disgusting if black stuff had been from the sugar/milk). After I said, "ummm, the coffee, 'cuz it's grounds?", he made a new pitcher of iced coffee and gave me a new one. Other than that, the people working here were super nice, pointing out where the power outlets were when I was clearly searching around, and not bothering me even though I was seriously camped out there. I had a chocolate chip brioche, which was ridiculously good. The back area, where the power outlets are, is pretty dark, though - I wished that I could sit up front near the huge window on such a gorgeous day. EDIT: I was wrong - There are power outlets up front, near the couches. You just have to search for them. Yay.

I saw Digitalism here, which was sadly kind of a disappointment. I'm not sure if it was because of the expensive booze (way too crowded bar, no more than half a shot in my drink that I paid $8 for) or the mediocre set, or the fact that the concert got out at 10:30 so the club could open up for the night. Oh, by the way, the coat check was pretty poorly set up for concerts. We waited 20 minutes to check our stuff, then went to the show, and waited a half hour to get our coats back. The whole time people coming in to the club were trying to check their coats (approaching from a different direction in the coat check hallway). It was pretty chaotic - a little organization could have made it way faster.
