The Edison is sweet. I've been there a couple of times and most recently had a party for a friend there. Everyone had a good time in this dark underground lounge. It's sort of hidden down this alley so when you pass the address and think "hey it should be right here" you're there! You'll see bouncers outside and it's not that kind of an alley so you're safe. The servers walking around are all dressed in "flapper" dresses and they play old black and white movies projected up high on the walls. You can have dinner there if you go early and they have big tables for large groups. But even just going in for happy hour or some late night drinks is cool. You can hang out at the bar or find a nice couch to hang out at. There is even a cool ferry walking around with her little cart and brightly lit wings selling shots for the ladies. This place provides a real cool and laid back place where you can have some fun.

I love this place for the friendliness, the festiveness, the energy, It's just adorably fun! It reminds me of Festa Karaoke in San Francisco where anyone who came in was welcomed and treated like family. People are just really cool here. And any place with cool peeps gets an extra star from me. When we came here on Sunday at noon, they were already jamming out on the bongos and singing or dancing on the table. We didn't get any food, just virgin pina coladas since it was the day of the mother drive home. Lol. The drink was pretty good but not as tasty as the one I had at News Cafe the day before.

The skeptic in me questions any restaurant, bar or night club that is named after another city or place outside of its actual location. A business that is named after an existing place shows a lack of creativity on the founder's part, and it usually has a disappointing lack of semblance to the actual place. These two factors of the same-name syndrome have caused me to stay away from places like Barcelona, Prague and perhaps even San Francisco Bakery & Cafe. Why would I want to get a sandwich at a place that gets its name from another city? Why not Austin Bakery & Cafe? After biting into SFB&C's Santa Clara sandwich, I stopped asking questions and began enjoying all that this Austin-based, San Francisco-style deli had to offer. The Santa Clara was a satisfying, two-meal sandwich, consisting of turkey, provolone, and avocado on fresh, doughy wheat bread. SFB&C's New England Clam Chowder also gets high marks in my book for its chunky consistency and taste which is neither overwhelmingly fishy or salty. Make this soup your meal by ordering the bread bowl. Five cheers and stars for San Francisco Bakery & Cafe!
