Not sure what music the were playing when I entered around 1:30, but had to leave in disappointment.  It even looks real Saturday Night Fever like with that huge stupid disco ball just waiting to land on someones head and probably send them back to the BeeGees.

And so God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation. And so that God should not have to break a schvitz over a hot stove on this day of rest, God said unto Adam, Let us have Chinese food. God said unto Adam, Let us now order a little shrimp and lobster sauce and barbecued spare ribs, and let us not forget the hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce for the dipping because to do so would be a sin. And when unto God Adam expressed concern over the consumption of such forbidden fruits, God commanded Adam, Let us not be concerned about the taking of swine or bottom-feeder arthropods, at which point God rolled his eyes and said unto Adam, Um, like *duh*, Adam, *everyone* knows that such divine delicacies are rightly good and kosher when taken within the confines of a Chinese restaurant--sheeesh. I am confident in my assessment that there are, on any given Sunday, more Jews in the Golden Temple than there are down the street in Temple Ohabei Shalom during the high holy holidays. What can I say? My people enjoy their Chinese food. In fact, if Jews are the chosen people, then it stands to reason that Chinese is the chosen cuisine. Truth be told, Golden Temple is highly specialized Chinese cuisine. Unlike the menus at most Chinese restaurants in this country, which tend to be of the Cantonese, Mandarin, or Szechuan variety, the food at Golden Temple is primarily from the lesser known, Semitic region of Long Island. If you are not familiar with Long Island Chinese cuisine, there is a good possibility that are you are not from the East Coast, and an unequivocal certainty that you are not Jewish. For the newbie looking for clues, terms such as "subgum" and "chop suey" tend to be key in such a regional menu. Also, this food is only to be eaten with a fork. Who do you think you are? Martin Yan? Put down those cockamamie chopsticks before you get a hernia. The nice thing about Golden Temple is that, while its menu boasts a great many dishes that no self-respecting Chinese person would be caught dead eating (read: goopy "chow mein" consisting of onions, celery, bean sprouts, and shrimp with a side of those La Choy-esque cracker "noodles" generally reserved for Chinese chicken salads at chain restaurants), the Jew-friendly kitchen (or should I say "kitsch-en"?) also serves up some keenly prepared authentic dishes like pea pod tendrils (dou mieu) in garlic sauce and a pretty tasty handmade mein. Throw in an attractive, Zen-ish dining area ingeniously cordoned off from a seductively lit, den-like bar area where overtanned, Ed Hardy-ed douchebags fist-pump to the DJ's beats in between sips from flaming scorpion bowls, and the Temple proves it can play both sides of the fence pretty damn well. Besides, who wouldn't want a lumpy, bumpy egg roll the approximate length and girth of Shaquille O'Neil's schwantz I mean forearm? Foreskin me, Father, for I have sinned.

The bar is never busy when I go, but everyone guests and staff alike, is friendly, and the service is great. There is kareoke, darts, and pool tables, and Dave makes the best turkey burgers I have ever had!

I've been past millions of times and it appears so peaceful I wanted to try it.  So my boys & I  decided to stop by for brunch.  We were looking for someplace peaceful. Arrived about 2 PM on Saturday afternoon, and there were only  nine tables seated (ironic or indication of a bad restaurant?)  so it was the perfect spot to have a leisurely meal. I'm really surprised this place isn't busier. ATMOSPHERE. Very relaxed place.  Lots of room so you can have your pick of location to dine in.  The restaurant is spacious and consists of various dining areas.  You can dine in the standard dining room or in an atrium/solarium/greenhouse (whatever they want to call it).  Each section has its on persona.  There is even space to chill out by the bar. The inside is clubby but the seating area and tables are spaced in a way as to not encroach the adjacent tables. This place could be good for families, trendy hipsters and single patrons.  There is something for everyone. I love the bathrooms they gave me an old school elementary school affect. DRESS CODE? Casual.  Lots of bitches in skinny jeans who aren't skinny enough to work them!!   What is it with skinny jeans anyway?? MENU Pretty standard continental brunch menu, nothing innovative or signature.  There are kids menus. MY MEAL One friend had the Huevos Rancheros, which smelled and tasted wonderful.  The other ordered the Salmon; it was the smallest and most pitiful peace of salmon we saw as other tables got nice pieces.  I had two eggs "over easy".  When I got them there were over medium.  When you mess up eggs, I wonder if the kitchen can complete orders that are more difficult? SERVICE Our waiter was absolutely fabulous!  Outstanding.   He had to be the happiest and most polite wait staff I've encountered in years or either he is on some fierce "happy pills"!   He had to leave at the end of our meal and the young lady who took over our table was just as nice. PRICE Standard.  I think it was appropriate for what was on the menu, however, I get the feeling that people come here for the atmosphere not the food. OVERALL / CONCLUSION Not the best meal and far from the worst.  I would return for the ambiance or to bring visitors to a peaceful place in Manhattan. Note:  Please check website for restaurant hours as they change on various days.
