by Shizue Kastl on I have been to Taverna Plaka 2 times now and both times I had a pretty good experience. The best part to me was the food. The gyros are not the best for the price but they are mighty tasty. Definitely a good date place, possibly a first or second date. I found it to be a difficult parking lot to exit, maybe that was just me. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
by Anthony H. on Just got back, still a little drunk, although I will not forget the place that I spent 7 dollars to see Dane Cook, Daniel Tosh, Joe Rogan, Dave Attell, and Andy Dick (who was a drunk asshole who ruined the show). There is however a two item minimum during the show, but if you order bud lights at 4.50 a pop it still ends up being dirt cheap for drinking and top notch comedy. Their drinks are stiff and the vibe is fantastic. The walls are covered with signed portraits of famous comedians. Show up early to ensure you get tickets, but there really is no point in rushing into the theater as it is small enough that there really are no bad seats. The food was pretty average however. I had the fries but I tasted the calamari and I saw the burgers and wings and they seemed like typical bar food. To be perfectly honest though, their food was on par with so many of the bars ive been to, but the deals on the entertainment and stiff drinks make this a must go in los angeles. Lastly, if you go to the first bar early and chat with the bartender, he will give you free VIP passes which equals free entrance for the next time.
