You can't beat the view! A scene and can be pretentious but they don't care how drunk people are ...bottle service is cheaper than most places so avoid the $20 drinks

I met Kevin Gillespie and he graciously let us take a picture with him even though he was cooking in the open kitchen. We sat in a large party for a 4 course meal, which took about 2.5 hours. We had a fixed menu with our choice of dessert (or so we thought). FOOD: Amuse - we had black eyed pea and rice fritter on collard green gribiche which was a spoon with a tasty fritter on a creamy sauce. Yummy! 1st Course - warm salad of pears and mushrooms with chicken jelly, foie gras mousse and truffle. The warm mixture of mushrooms with the jelly were good but I didn't care for the foie gras. 2nd Course - tandoori spiced scallop with poached shrimp salad, lemon raita, vegetable pickles and ginger-cardamom-saffron sauce. The scallop was seared beautifully on top of the bit tart shrimp salad. 3rd Course - raw oyster with lobster cream and ikura roe. It was very fishy tasting and salty. 4th Course - smoked pork loin with fig glaze, braised shoulder and pork skim risotto, endive, and apple balsamic. Pork is Kevin's specialty and I was amazed at the flavor and tenderness of the pork. The risotto was smoked flavor and delicious! Main Course - antelope loin with pancetta, potato, brussel sprout hash, potato mascarpone cream and black trumpet sauce. I was a little unsure about antelope, but it was like a tender piece of beef. Dessert - either apple galette, caramel, and ice cream or brownie, banana cream, dulce de leche mousse with caramelized banana. We didn't have a choice, we were just given either the galette or brownie and was told to share. The galette was an apple tart with ice cream which was tasty, but the brownie topped with a slice of chocolate with caramelized banana and mousse on the side. My favorite! Since it was just a taste of these courses, I'd prefer a dish of the fritter, pork loin, and brownie.

Loved the live music eminating from this place, but I wish it wasn't so "intimate" aka "cramped". I don't mind touching shoulders with strangers if I'm at a concert, but at a restaurant - it's just not my thing. There are about 6 booths lining the outer areas with your own table and cushioned seats, but if you're in the center like I was it's just a regular, small, wooden table with wooden chairs. But, maybe the close quarters were suppose to make one feel as if they were listening to blues in the south because it was very dark and hot down there (oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you it's underground). Too bad there wasn't one inch of space reserved for dancing. How can a venue play offer live bands playing blues and no dancefloor? As for the food, it was decent but I've had better; blame it on my dad who spoiled me with homemade soulfood. I had the fried fish with coleslaw, mashed potatoes and a biscuit for sides. The crust of the fish was a little soggy and not the crisp cornmeal coating I'm used to and it was very bland. I don't think they seasoned the fish or the flour. The mashed potatoes were good as was the coleslaw, but the biscuit was N-A-S-T-Y. It was undercooked and whoever cooked them made them with too much baking soda. Bleech! Even so, I would go here again. Maybe I'll change my review later...
