Went here @ 10pm on a Friday night and my spidey senses tell me that this is the peak hour for the B&Ts.  I ordered a pitcher of the white sangria and we hung out in front of the fountain.  The sangria was sweet & funky not my fave.  There was a fight right behind me involving 2 guys who were then thrown out....Also some orange girls were getting angry due to someone splashing them or some such nonsense.  I say you are a. on a boat b. by the water c. by a fountain d. surrounded by crazy drunk people and you are probably halfway there yourself so RELAX.  I did go on the boat which was nice and much less crowded.  I wish I got closer to the stage & danced but I did not have the energy to weave through all those bodies.  I could see this being nice during the day and maybe other nights are best.  I was given a free burger right before I left & I have to say it was delicious, I was shocked!  I may even upload a photo of me doing the hungry human burger dance.  Overall since I was in a group it was fun here but it was a little too crowded & intense for the first place I went to.  I don't think I would bring a date here unless it was less crazy during the day/ a different night.

It is a nice bar to finish off at after some shopping.  It is old school New York with that great mural that makes the bar. A few nibblies and drinks will lighten your wallet, but in a town where he new bars and nightclubs look more and more like Miami and LA than NY, it is nice to have this bar to return to and soak up old world charm and the industrial age relics that go with it.

A venue is only as good as it's perfomers and the Blue Note is a prime example. First off... Could ya pack a few more effin people in please? I mean, seriously, I could fit that small brunette on my left knee and maybe that old guy with the cane... put him on my right. Geezus! Tiny, cramped, less than average drinks priced at lounge quotas... Good thing they cull some great musicians! I was surprised by a date to see my favorite Jazz muscian, the fab Chris Botti a couple weeks ago and while we were in the midst of the holiday crowd he put on an excellent show. I wish there was a bigger venue in the area, but I'll do what I have to and for that Blue Note gets my nod.
