by Sebrina B. on I think some people will really like this place but it was not for me. I did not have a bad time but I did not have a really great time either. If you really just want to go and dance it is pretty good. They don't play a lot of new music but they do play a lot of good danceable music. I went on a Friday and they played every type of music. The only thing that I did not like were like the medleys where they would not allow the song to play through. Also, they do switch dj's around 12 or 1 am so keep that in mind as well because the first dj is better. This is not the place to go to hook up unless you are a woman over 35 or a woman of another age looking for a sugar daddy. The drinks were just okay. Finally, do not believe the fliers or website which still promote Fridays as being free until 12 for ladies. It is only free until 10pm. Oh and if you want to eat get there early because though they have a lot of seating people camp out there all night so there isn't much opportunity to get one unless you get there early.
by Livia Harrey on My friends and I came to the place on a Thursday night. The place was dead. We got in easily, no charge, nice environment, very space-y, the music was not bad, full bar, and nice place to hang, be mellow and chill. We came back on a Friday night after leaving from Duvet (another club) and after much convincing from our other friends that Friday night would be different for Stay. NO! It was dead as well. I don't know about you, if a place is not happening on a Thursday night and it is not happening on a Friday night, then it is NOT HAPPENING! We feel cheated. Anyway, since we hopped to this place from Duvet, we got a group of people coming with us. The first group including me got in fine (even though the bouncer, a woman, was having a bit of an attitude). We got in, waited for a long time for our friends (the second group that should be meeting us up) wondering why they didn't get in yet. They called and said they got stuck outside by the bouncer. Now, we are pissed. The place was dead on a Friday night and for no apparent reason, the bouncer just decided to make a group of customers waited outside for a lounge/club that was not worth the time! We left and never come back to the place again.
by Karsten P. on I'd been kinda steering clear of this place, for no good better reason than a few of my friends had been and their descriptions had suggested deeper than normal shallowness. But when I saw the lineup for this last Tuesday, with Chuck Love, DJ Heather, Colette, and Farina playing back-to-back, I decided it was time to scout it. I mean, even if the place was stacked with bland, pushy people, I'd still win with the music, right? Well I should have been more open-minded. I had a great time. I liked that it wasn't too huge, that people of all stripes were enjoying themselves and each other, and that there was easy access to an outside area when it was needed. People were friendly, the upstairs was interesting, and it wasn't too hard to get a drink. Only thing I'd fault it on is something gay clubs and bars seem to have a lock on and straight places haven't figured out yet - why does the outside/smoking area always have to be sidewalk with a barricade? It's NICE to be outside after you've been dancing your ass off! A little area with seats and some plants would be nice. Oh, and props to security for being polite about finishing your drink.
