This is by far my favorite venue in the city. They always have interesting groups coming through, some big name and some you've never heard of but either way you can get right up close to the stage and enjoy an evening of live music and good food. I recommend the garlic fries... if you're not on a date (or if your date also loves garlic). The sound techs on duty are always top notch and I've never been to a show there that suffered from "loud just to be loud" syndrome, yes I'm talking to you Regency Ballroom. If you get there early take a minute to check out the cool decorations on the ceiling and the walls that harken back to a bygone era, one that dug gold leaf.

OMG...so fun! I didn't eat here, I didn't drink here, but I did dance here and I had an AMAZING night! After a night of drinking our way along Polk, my herd of friends (there were 14 of us) decided we wanted to dance. As we were walking past MAYES, we were drawn to the dance floor like moths to a flame. The music was awesome, the dance floor was full, but not too crowded, and the mood was right! So we showed dude our IDs and half of us went straight to the dance floor and the other half to the bar. We finished out our night here right...dancing the night away to Pop tunes mixed with Euro Dance music and Marilyn Manson...different but AWESOME! I'm pretty sure we found a new place to add to our list on weekends...and we'll probably check out happy hour too! I love finding new spots! But if you and your friends love having a good time, dancing crazy, a few great drinks, and an amazing random nights...this is the place to hit on your weekend nights!!!

When I first came here I thought the place was a dump and the sound system was terrible. This was years ago. Since then the place has undergone a much needed face lift including a new sound system. I came here last Saturday for a party and fundraiser for Love Fest and http://theMML.comand had a great time. The sound system in the front room is fantastic except for a few resonant low frequencies when the music gets really loud. The bar area is clean and modern looking now and the lighting and overhead hanging video screens that you can see from both sides is a great touch. My only gripe for this place is that the small back room could use some decor, mood lighting, and a better sound system and the front room could use some bass traps and maybe active resonance cancellation (a minor annoyance) but otherwise the venue is wonderful. Great beats, drinks, and vibes were enjoyed by all. See you at Love Fest!
