by Jerome Poehlein on YUCK!!!! We stayed here after taking our friend out for her bachelorette party. Now it's probably because I haven't been "clubbing" since I decided that I was too old (I'm almost 30) but this place was awful!! Typical LA crowd with 2 guys fighting on the dance floor (including a body slam and a kick to the head) and a girl in the bathroom who was mad that I bumped into her and didn't say excuse me. I had 4 vodka tonics total and didn't even really feel buzzed- we think they water down their alcohol.. I HATE THAT! So instead of sticking around we got bored and left. The music was decent but the dance floor was packied with smelly guys and hootchie mama girls. I will never frequent this place on my own free will.
by Bob Loblaw .. on If they showed what time we wrote our reviews, it would show that a lot of mine, in particular the ones about music venues, are written late at night after I've returned from a show. I tend to not want to write reviews of places until I have been there several times. I finally feel like i've seen enough shows at Bimbo's to write about it. So as I sit here, basking in the hazy afterglow of The National show tonight, I can say with all sincerity that I am feeling mad love for Bimbo's.
by Marisa M. on Comedy Club upstairs!! What better way to spend a Sunday night then sipping on Scorpion Bowls with your friends while being fully entertained by local stand-up comedians!! My friend from Aspen was visiting and my roommate and I took him to Hong Kong in Harvard Square for some Chinese food. Little did we know they host a comedy stand up show every night on the third floor for $5! We decided to check it out and it was well worth it. A small room filled with mostly comedians themselves but I'd say 70% of the people who performed were talented and got a few laughs out of me. Something new to explore! Especially if you are in the mood for Chinese food, why not dive into some comedy as well. They offer the full menu throughout the evening and shows run Sunday through Tuesday 8pm - 10pm.
