ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I would give the place zero stars if I could. We went to Duvet for a bachelorette party last night. We began the night by getting our bags and bodies thoroughly searched. The woman who searched my bag removed my expensive tweezers and nail clipper and told me I can not bring them into the club. When I asked if I can pick them up on my way out, she said no! I cannot possibly understand why I would not be allowed to collect my confiscated belongings at the end of the night when I am leaving. That was the first ridiculous part of the night and we hadn't even entered the club yet. My friend booked her bachelorette party through a promoter "Johnny," who by the way, is absolutely full of crap and I do not suggest ever using him. He originally told us (via email, we have it in writing), that we need to purchase three $250 bottles of grey goose in order to reserve a bed for our party. So it would be $750, INCLUDING tax and gratuity. When we arrived, we had to argue with Johnny's promoter chick (Johnny wasn't even there) and she was a horribly nasty little brat. The club tried to charge us 40% on top of the $250 cost per bottle of grey goose for tax and gratuity. He said 20% for gratuity and 20% tax. I am a good tipper, and I would never complain about tipping 20% (even though the girls that brought us the liquor literally poured us each one drink and left the bottles and mixers at the bed for us to do ourselves), but 20% tax isn't even legal. He had the nerve to tell me to "just pay the price we are telling you, charge it to your credit card, and then dispute it with your credit card company." WHAT THE HELL!? I argued with him and told him that was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I cannot believe the way this place does business. His response was "this is how my boss handles things here. just charge it and dispute it." I ended up speaking to the manager, and she was not nice either. I asked her to please just send at least one bottle over to the bed while we were discussing this because all of the girls in the party were just sitting there waiting for this to be resolved and didn't have any liquor for at least 45 minutes. She said "That's not an option. You either have to purchase 3 bottles and pay in advance, or you have to leave the bed." Again, ridiculous. Then she said that they would charge 20% gratuity and 7% tax (gee thank you, that's the normal rate). So the bottles of grey goose ended up costing about $317 each (instead of the $250 each that the promoter told us). If I really could have, I would have just left. But we were already there, and I just wanted my friend to have a good time. I felt awful that she even had to deal with this on the night of her bachelorette party.  I didn't want her night to be ruined (she was already upset enough about the situation as it was), so I just caved in and agreed to charge the $960 to my credit card for the 3 bottles of grey goose, and then deal with the money issue later so everyone could just have a good time. When we finally did agree to pay for the bottles, it took a good 20 minutes to get the liquor over to the bed. (Oh, and by the way, the beds are pretty gross). The DJ was pretty horrible. He kept playing about 20-30 seconds worth of songs. Never played a full song. So if a song happened to come on that you actually liked, it was changed in 20 seconds. All in all, I will NEVER go back to this place and I would never want to give them my business. After all of the arguing about the price was finished, we did end up having a really good time and we drank and danced the rest of the night, but again, that was only because we were trying to make the best of a bad situation. Oh, and the crowd that this place attracts leaves much to be desired. I highly recommend that you stay away from Duvet. Horrible service, unaccommodating management, overpriced drinks, unappealing crowd and bad DJ. There's literally nothing good I can say about it.

My friend had his 21st birthday here, where he bought 2 tables with bottle service and brought in like 80 friends, who were mostly pretty girls. That said, they took over half an hour to actually bring the bottles to the tables, as we sat there waiting! WTF? It is not that hard to open a bottle of Grey Goose and plunk it down. For that much money, you expect better service. What I liked: Beautiful space, huge interior, outdoor cabanas, large clean bathroom with short line, choreographed dances by the go-go girls and a hip hop group (I felt like I was in the movie Step Up 2 The Streets haha), getting in without waiting, paying, or showing ID even though there was a line of at least 40 people. What I didn't like: Slow table service, took forever to refill our mixers, kind of a weird crowd esp the guys who think they are sweet dancers and are really just running into people who dance less obnoxiously, half the songs the dj played were not current club songs, but more of a "love shack" type, not cool at 11 pm in an upscale club! Plus $14 for a TINY cocktail, LAME! Glad I was DD and didn't waste my money. Wasn't the most fun I ever had, especially after getting dressed up enough for Hollywood, but I'd go back with the right group of friends.

Was here for an event, and any place that supports the Boston Demons is a place I can get behind: there is nothing better than a bar full of Aussies eating meat pies and drinking beers. However it happened, the Demons made arrangements to celebrate Australia Day here and any bar that lets that many ex-pats not just come in and drink, but take over the TVs with DVDs of AFL, bring in their own food (meat pies), manages to serve a beer actually imported from Oz (read: NOT Fosters), and take over the music to play all Aussie bands? Well, that place is okay in my book. We had a group of 8-10 coming and going, and snagged a table, which was clutch. Our waitress kept complaining about how crowded it was, how tired she was, how she was having such a bad day...all she had to say was that she was sorry the service was slow and we would have been more okay with it. Suggesting a round of shots every time she was at the table was a bit much, as well. Neither our waitress or the bartender knew what Tia Maria was, and I didn't think it was that uncommon. Nor did they know enough to be like "coffee liqueur...I can sub Kahlua". That was pretty disappointing, especially since I'd had too many already and couldn't come up with that myself. On a random, but somewhat relevant note: the bathrooms aren't the worst I've ever seen, but they don't have paper towels and the air dryer is about as effective as blowing on my hands myself. On the other hand, all but the handicapped stall have little posters with random facts on the back of the door so you can at least be mildly entertained while you're in there. I'm not sure I'd hike all the way to Central to go back here - there are plenty of the same Irish bars between Dot and Central that I can get to a lot faster and have exactly the same experience (when it's not Australia Day).
